Forums - Gaming - PS4 estimated to sell 17 million & XB1 10 million by the end of 2014

I do think those predictions are overly optimistic.

The PS4 is likely to sell another 6 to 8 million this year and the X1 another 2 to 3 millions at the current paces assuming a slow summer and better holidays. I really dont see where the optimistic numbers are coming from. It would require gigantic holiday sales, when both systems wont have more than one or two exclusives.

Same reason PS4 set all time record and X1 set Xbox one, people are sick of the last gen and want new toys to play with.  Do you think people want to be Call of Dutying on a 9 year old console or a brand new one, old gen graphics or new shiny ones ?

Both are currently in free fall.

Prepare for an ungodly bad summer. Both need big exclusive games ASAP

That's what I was thinking. This estimate is a bit unrealistic considering current sales and what we know summer will do to those sales.

The only one benefitting this summer is Wii U if Mario Kart becomes a thing so more people get Wii Us and even then, it won't be selling more than 300k at most. This summer might be a new low for gaming overall.

PS4 17-19m
Xbone: 10-11m
WiiU: 10m

The hardcore segment minus the more logical, yes. The casuals wont even be able to tell the difference. We are also forgetting these are expensive systems. I am sure many struggle to see the point of the investment when the upgrade is so difficult to see. Quite honestly, the multi generational titles arent doing any favors. With Batman delayed, i really cant see it.

Are people gonna buy these systems for the order and sunset overdrive alone? AC unity might help if it shows enough of an improvement, but i'm guessing Comet will outsell it by alot.

How does no sound?

Aprils gonna be a bit of an eye opener for people. Unless NPD decides to do some major adjustments prepare for a large drop off for both X1 and PS4.

Anyone thinking PS4 could keep the momentum it had are sadly mistaken. And X1 is dead.

Will remember this post when NPD hits

March was 5 weeks, had Titanfall, MGS and inFamous, ofcourse April will be lower, its obvious, everyone can say that much right now.

If PS4 is above 200k this month, it'll be good numbers.

Numbers in May will go up again, Watch Dogs will be big, not sure if America is getting a bundle like Europe.

The PS4 will sell atleast a minimum of 5m in the holidays, so that leaves 12m until october, pretty feasible at the current rate PS4 is selling.

Sony will announce the 8th million milestone next month, 9m in june, 10 by july/august and september will see 11-12m with Destiny and The Last of Us.

PS4 - 16-18M
XB1 - 11-12M
NintyU - 8-9,5M

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

Dont underestimate how illogical people can be, im in sales and in general consumers are fools.   Its a new PS there isent much more many will need to know come the holidays, especially moms byuing their brat a game console.  And the simplicity of 4 is new and 3 is old is golden.

Cross gen will barely effect things, you dont want to play anything on PS4 if you can on PS4.  It just sooo much better, faster instant gratification.

In Ps4s case 399 these days is not much, consumers have been brainwashed into thinking 800 for a new phone is ok and 200 jordens equals great.

Youll see, current gen will out sale the old.  The biggest whales have moved on to the new consoles.

BeElite, that is something i believe you are right in, in particular in the US market. But in europe things are a bit different. Customers arent fooled as easily and they dont have as much disposible income.

Anyways, i guess we will have to wait and see. I think E3 will help us with the predictions of the hype meters.
