Forums - Sony - Why do I feel the urge to buy a PS4?

I've never had the urge to buy a PS system before. I've owned all 3 previous consoles but that was because of family members and gifts. I've enjoyed all of them but have never bought one myself...now I feel the need to buy a PS4. Yet, none of the games interest me besides for InFamous SS.

I think I mainly want to play some PS classics but my PS3 broke. Does PS4 have PS classics yet?

Anyway, I always planned to buy a Wii U first (got it earlier this year) and then depending on E3 get a PS4 or XBO during this Holiday. Now, despite the XBO having Kinect (which I like) and better exclusives for my tastes so far, I want a PS4.

Thoughts?

Because PS4 is winning. You want validation and acceptance in your life. You crave the comfort that your opinion is the majority one. You literally get pleasure in your brain when you see your console sell better, like a solid buzz from alchohol or sex.

This, is by far, PS4's greatest selling point, and it has nothing to do with what the console actually does.

The main flaw with this line of quite sound reasoning is that buyer's remorse or validation, typicallly happens after one has purhcased the thing they seek validation for. Seeing as he has not yet purchased a PS4 and is considering to get one, then it is not yet "his console".

Popularity sells, but buyer's remorse doesn't work a priori.

Rather popularity, makes the system seem more valuable then the less popular competition. Coke Vs. Pepsi.

The argument works both ways.

Furthermore, your argument completely falls apart considering he all ready has a Wii U.

Also @Bold is a pretty ludicrous assumption to make. Typically, people buy things because of what it does, i.e. its utility to them versus how much they would have to spend to acquire it.

Diablo III is coming soon! Apparently the best version http://www.gamezone.com/previews/2014/04/19/diablo-3-ultimate-evil-edition-feels-like-a-completely-different-game-on-ps4-and-it-s-amazing

I need to know how to make sure my Diablo III PS3 data transfers to Diablo III:UE on PS4.  I'd really hate to have to start from scratch after beating it multiple times and getting some good loot.

Get a Vita. It's PS retro gaming bliss

No thanks. I considered it at one point but decided against it because:

A) I'm not into HH's that much and I already don't play my 3DS...ever.

B) Too expensive. By the time I buy the system and get a memory card for it, I might as well get the PS4.

PSP or emulator. Play your legally owned backups.

Because I have one and I'm sexy. When you're playing with someone who is sexy their sexiness rubs off on you. When their sexiness rubs off on you then you feel sexy yourself. When you feel sexy yourself other people will start to notice you're sexy. When other people notice you're sexy then you get laid. Get sexy and get laid. Buy a PS4.

^ Look! It's opposite land!

Disclaimer for impressionable youth: In the real world, if getting laid is the objective, buying and playing a video game system is a terrible strategy.

Buying a shield is way better. The perfect emulation machine which gives you retro gaming for real.

That could work. Only problem is then I'd be getting a PSP only for PS1 games. I want the system to be future proof too so I can play some new games as well. I'll look into it but as of now, I'm still leaning toward a PS4 near the end of the year.

Thanks for being helpful though :)

1. Because everyone else is getting one.
2. You love graphics.
3. You love Sony exclusives
4. You have too much money.

Yeah, android emulation scene is very good. I said Vita because of the price, too. And it has a hell of performance

Maybe you never had the urge because someone always got you one before you felt like owning a new console. Also you want a ps4 cuz deep down you know that it will have the best library of games when all is said and done
