Forums - Gaming - Why is Titanfall Considered a Big Exclusive for XB1 but FFXIV not for PS4?

Titanfall might be getting more attention then it deserves because its a new online only FPS. That's the sole reasons many people even try it. Hence, that isn't looking at the game objectively.

Quick fix, because that can go both ways with no proof of truth.

Its all just hype imo.

No, no, no. You should have said Titanfall is getting more attention than it deserves because it was developed by the people that created CoD. That is so obvious and you missed it.

Anyhow, I was just clarifying for someone that actually thinks consumers are looking at a FF MMO objectively. The biggest draw to FFXIV is the IP.

Hype decides things, And it decided that these games aren't comparable, One's an extremely hyped shooter (Mainstream material), And the other's a niche JMMORPG (Obviously less potential public appeal).

stuff

Selnor, FFXIV is not like the Final Fantasy games you hate, because It has everything from the Final Fantasy games you like.

From the Summoning, Class System, Towns, Crystal Tower, Magics, Adventuring, Magitek, and Monsters from FF3-FF6.

Materia, Limit Break, Seventh Heaven, (Gold Saucer soon) from FF7

More to come in future patches.

Finally, if you haven't played the game then your opinion about it is invalid.

It doesnt matter whether ive played it or not. I was answering the op as to why its not a big exclusive. The reason is square have tarnished the ff name. So that many who loved ff like my are not even bothered to try ff again. It was because of my recent experience of ff over the last years being way below par that I didnt care to look into ff14 in anyway. So my point is relevant to the thread.

Well, you made your opinion very clear. Not saying you're right or wrong but still, 2 million players worldwide speaks for itself, and that must mean its attracting people new to Final Fantasy, and MMORPGs.

Because PS owners don't feel the need to tout around titles that are available on other platforms due to a severe drought of different titles on their own platform. It's pretty sad when a game is declared better and exclusive to a platform because they get DLC a month early.

MMO's on consoles don't exactly create the hype people think they do. It can be successful, but it's not something people really go crazy over in my opinion. Plus, FFXIV has been out a long time on the PC alone. It's essentially port vs brand new game. Yeah, TF mirrors it in terms of platform availability, but it isn't four years old either.

ARR came out late last summer it is not the same game that came out 4 years ago. And to your 1st point, do you think it is possible that the reason no one gets hyped for a console MMO is because they traditionally sucked? FFXIV could be a watershed game for the Genre as it relates to consoles. Remember in a time before Goldeneye no one got hyped for FPS games on a console? You know why? Because before that they were just not that good.

FFXIV is the most inovative game currently availible on an eight gen console. Not because it adds much new to the MMO genre, well except it is playable on a console... i guess that is kind of a big deal.

It still holds the same name of FFXIV first and foremost. Obviously MMOs are gonna change a bit years down the line. I mean, does WoW look the same like when it first started? No. It's not like people consider the expansion packs entire new games though. As for the Goldeneye comparison, no console MMO has captured the attention of the gaming populace the way Goldeneye did for shooters on consoles. This is not the Goldeneye of MMOs.

As for it being innovative because it's on a console, it's only that way by default. Hell, Elder Scolls Online is just around the corner, so it's not gonna be the only MMO for very long. Not to mention the other MMOs that have appeared last gen as well. It's a port. Not a bad word, but even as ARR, it's still a port of a game that came out last summer. Even Tomb Raider managed to only really grab about 500,000 copies with their port. Granted, that's quite a few copies, but this isn't a new era where most people are going to get more excited over a port than a new game. All I'm saying is, don't expect a game whose brand has been around for decades and whose origins started out on the PC to a very bad launch to all of sudden become the toast of the town. It's a port and an option for PS4 fans to have.

Nice, a pathetic jab and Xbox fans but you took into consideration Sony fans hype mediocre games simply because they're exclusive.

You know what's really sad? Getting so worked up over trivial entertainment. Waste of time and waste of life.

Final Fantasy is a system seller in Japan which seems to be a dying market for consoles. Not so much anywhere else. There are a few hardcores that will buy a system for it here, but it's not gonna jump start the console. Especially when people see it as a dying franchise

Not a jab. A statement of fact. I'm sorry if Xbox fans get a tad worked up over it.
