FFXIV is a solid MMORPG that had already been out for several months on PC and PS3, so people who really wanted to play it already had played it. Also, while Shooters are commonly played on consoles by millions of people around the world, MMOs don't have as big of a fanbase on consoles, are are traditionally played on PC as a mouse and key board is typically easier to play them with. |
I would argue it is the most revolutionary game available on an 8th GEN console. Never before in the history of gaming has someone been able to NAIL a true MMO on a console, and second this is the 1st game I know of that SHARES servers between the PC version, PS3 and PS4, in fact I have never heard of a game that shares servers between 2 platforms, maybe it exist though but not on this scale. It is awsome because you play which ever version you prefer and family and friends can get what they prefer. TF maybe an evolution for FPS games but FFXIV is literally a game changer for console MMOs.
The argument is that MMOs are not popular on consoles andd FPS games are so that is the answer to the OP. I would argue past the hype FFXIV is a bigger deal, down the road will it has a chance to make MMOs viable on a console and to me that is a gamechanger. Titanfall will be an afterthought when TF2 is release and FFXIV will still be going strong.
