It makes complete sense from a business perspective. But I'm a consumer, not a shareholder, so I'd much rather have brand new games. If Sony, or Microsoft of Nintendo for that matter, want to release a remake or even an enhanced remaster ten years down the line, I'm all for it. But I'm not interested in buying the same games again, even with prettier graphics, and especially not within 24 months of the original release.

And I know it doesn't take many resources to make these remastered games, but it still seems like a waste of time from my point of view. Backward compatibility would have been a much better investment.

Games like the Last of Us yes, not Beyond Two Souls if that is confirmed. Uncharted hell yes.
What about Playstation Now? I thought that was going to supplement backward compatibility instead of these remasters.
I mainly don't like the price.

Its a Smart Move for Sony cause its literally a Cash Grab tactic... First theres MGV:GZ which is a $30 game thats only 1 hour long... Now we have remasters of games that aren't even a year old and this is just the beginning of the generation.. You just know that everyone is gonna start doing stupid, money grabbing shit like this and we are gonna sit here and take it for whatever reason

This generation is gonna be so lolz

It's a good idea simply because not everyone that's getting a PS4 had a PS3

Do we need them? Yes, only for one reason: there would be virtually nothing coming to retail without them. They need something, anything to fill in the gaps.

The only remaster I want from Sony is an Uncharted 2 remaster! That's it.

How is more games on a new console anything but a good thing?

Seriously, what the hell, it's not like a port takes up the entire teams time for a couple of fecking years.

New PlayStation owners need them and loyal PlaySation fans who already got those games from PS3 shouldn't feel its wasting effort cause Sony is doing things for all PS4 owners...

fixed for accuracy

How about we let the free market decide, if its predominantly seen as a bad idea, then no one will buy the remakes, Sony makes no money and they stop doing it. Alternatively, if people like it then the sales will be good enough and Sony will keep doing it. End of the day, its more games, it probably accelerates market movement to the new console (instead of finishing huge backlogs on the previous console), and it probably takes 1/5 the resources to port a game to the next gen than make an entirely new game. It even allows developers to trial a new console architecture without risking an entire full game budget on the exercise, particularly when platform size is low. Really, there is next to no negatives other than that next big game might come out 3-4 months later (out of a three year dev cycle), but with a mass of positives. Win win I say.
