Forums - Gaming - Microsoft saved Titanfall from being canned, sony lacked cooperation/openness

Boring......

Anyways, 4 weeks after Titanfall Xbox1 release (from April 5 VGchartz weekly numbers), PS4 console sale doubled Xbox1 console sale globally, and PS4 outsold xbox1 again in the US.

Time to move on to the next game that will save Xbox1......

So that's the real reason for no single player and I'm guessing it's also the reason the game is so bare bones right now. They simply did not have enough money.

As for why Sony avoided them I would guess it's because they were trying to keep system specs a secret that's the only thing I could come up with. Maybe they just didn't trust Respawn or like the desperation. Would be interesting to hear Sony's side on this.

MS also helped Crytek with Ryse, Capcom with Dead Rising 3, Insominiac with Sunset Overdrive, Remedy with Quantum Break.

Why a "mediocre dudebro generic shooter" got such a outlash for being exclusive to Microsoft platforms?

Financially, it probably didn't make sense for Sony to have helped to fund it. A high risk multiplatform game with no control over the IP. With hindsight, we've seen it's not a massive system seller either, despite selling well. Sony also had their own exclusive set to launch in the same window.

It's strange that EA didn't want to fund the game themselves. Since the beginning it was very clear the game would do well.

Also if Sony can make games like UC2, TLoU and GOWIII. I think they could help making TF.

Well they can make games like that themselves, so no need to support every new IP that a third party wants to come up with. What for? The game is gonna come to your system in the end anyways, should it be succesful enough and if not, who cares if it never comes. EA themselves have already said Titanfall 2 will be on the PS4 without Sony supporting them.

I totally agree with you.

ButI should have made clear that my comment was directed to the people saying that Sony didn't have the money to fund TF development.

If Sony can make UC2,GT5,TLoU and GOWIII.  They could afford TF.

Your right maybe they could afford to support Titan Fall but at what cost? Maybe it would stop them from funding the VR tech further or PSnow. Sony has a lot of projects going on right now in the gaming department supporting a third party company was probably not to high on their priority list. Probably didn't come across as very professional either I would imagine. In my eyes I would be thinking if this game is so great why isn't EA giving these guys the money to get it done?

The answer was given here many times:

Sony didn´t have the resources to fund and suport the game the same way Microsoft had.

If now with all the PS4 success Sony has laidoff duzens of developers on their first party studios do you think Sony would have enouth to spare two years ago on a new third party game?

Nothing here prevents EA to publish the game later on PS4. Typical Mass Effect situation.

Wow, even after the mod edit to the story the replies here continue to be pathetic. I'm not sure if this is sad or comedic gold.

Yea that makes sense. From my understanding MS was surprised the PS4 was ready when it was because PS3 just started making Sony money.

Article sounds like BS.

big time. Sony bust their asses trying to get every indie developer on board. but when the makers of CoD plead with them to get their game on their next gen console sony refuse? yeah.... sure....

Perhaps because Sony isn't perfect and they can make mistakes like anyone else?

Besides the information is sourced from the developers themselves. It's not fake.

all this comment saying "ohh sony isnt perfect and they can make mistakes" are beyond foolish. nobody claimed that sony doesnt make mistakes, the comments are all about how this seemed highly unlikely.
