As for why Sony avoided them I would guess it's because they were trying to keep system specs a secret that's the only thing I could come up with. Maybe they just didn't trust Respawn or like the desperation. Would be interesting to hear Sony's side on this.

Sony didn´t have the resources to fund and suport the game the same way Microsoft had.

If now with all the PS4 success Sony has laidoff duzens of developers on their first party studios do you think Sony would have enouth to spare two years ago on a new third party game?

Yea that makes sense. From my understanding MS was surprised the PS4 was ready when it was because PS3 just started making Sony money.
