Will be buying even less day one games for the new gen of consoles as the price has risen to £45-50, which staying the same price in the US. So fuck the greedy cunts who only raise price in EU, bargain bin deals all the gen for me.

EA have said that all their new games for the PS4 and Xbox One are going to start at £54.99 too but kept it at $60 for the US

7th Gen RRP for UK was £50. Shops aren't stupid though and never really went above £40 (high street had to compete with supermarkets). CoD caused problems a couple of years back when the price went up £5 randomly, people were angry because a game that everyone wants went up and it felt like they were exploiting people. People still bought it though.

In this new generation, the games are being upped to a new RRP which isn't getting reduced as much yet in retail either, leading to a higher overall price. In time, once more people buy the new gen, this will reduce I'm sure.

Hmm, pie.

For the UK most AAA games start of at about £45 which is simply too much IMO, and I very much miss the days of games costing

Generally I feel like waiting. There's the occassional game I want at full price and will get at full price if I can afford it, but other than that, I generally wait until they're at most 20€, usually less. DRM is another factor: a game with DRM isn't worth much to me and the maximum amount I'll pay for a game with DRM is typically 5-10€, possibly less - no matter how interesting the game is. I don't consider online passes as DRM in my head but I guess they tecnically are, and they have a similar effect despite me not being very interested in multiplayer on consoles: 5-10€ is the maximum amount I'm willing to pay for a game using an online pass system.

So yeah, there's the factors that aren't directly related to the game itself that affect my spending. Then there's the game itself which also has a huge effect: of course I'm not buying bad games even at a low price.

And in case it wasn't clear, I consider game prices to be way too high. Luckily it's usually easy enough to wait.

Think of it like this: I got an almost new copy of Xenoblade for £30 while Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes was around £25-£28

I think most games are over-priced for the value/entertainment they provide. I really only think RPG games (which are typically longer than the average game) or games where you plan to play multiplayer are worth their price.

That said the development costs have gone up which would either mean (a) more expensive games or (b) less content for the same price.

As an aside, I think some developers focus too much on graphics rather than providing a solid and lengthy game experience. Infamous SS looked beautiful but it was a short game, particularly when taking into account that it was an open world game which by its nature lends itself to a lengthy gameplay experience.

I buy when I feel like buying at AUD prices lol.

In my country, to make a profit game stores sell us games for around $70 to $75 US.

I...hate it.
Worst part - Im in a third world country. To see people in the first world complain about prices makes me laugh.

99% percent of my games (on consoles) are new. I'm not gonna give you some sappy speech about supporting devs or whatever hipster shizznit, I just like my games brand new. The $60 is a kick to the groin but what can ya do.

The exception was GTAIV which i helped my bro buy used...on 2011.
My PC gaming however, let's just say I like One Piece.

Price are fine, I rarely buy them at full price though. PC gaming is dirt cheap most of the time and there are always amazing sales.

Well, considering this:

I don't think games cost that much per se. They're certainly easier on the wallet than they were back in the late 90s when I first started buying my own games. Of course, even today $60 is a decent sum of money, and I'm not willing to buy every game brand new at full price, so for ones that I'm less sure about and don't consider must-buys, I'll wait until I can get it for cheaper.

That is very misleading as it doesnt take into account how the salaries increased in relation. Besides, is that US or something? Its not representative of the whole world.

I am fairly sure that games today are hitting Sonic 3 like prices. Your pretty graphic tries to hide that but my wallet doesnt. Of course, those games were failed price experiments as sales plummeted as a result.
