Do people not use the cloud?

I saw some video not long ago of the cloud being used and it made it so that multiple buildings and millions of collisions could be done and there was no fps drop. Then same PC without cloud activated did the same and it was like 5 fps.

Wasn't the XOne touting the cloud. When is this going to be seen in games? Seems strange that it suffers so much in terms of FPS.

That demo is using the cloud for physics.

Using the cloud in trials would allow them to add exploding buildings in the background without a large hit on performance, but it wouldn't directly allow them to increase resolution.

Meh, I can't wait till stuff like this is not reported on, I just don't care. Just annoying and a bit nerdy that resolution matters so much to some people. Would you people rather it be at 1080p on X1 if it was an unplayable mess, I wouldn't think so. So just enjoy the game please if you do get it, resolution isn't as important as it's made out to be

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

It is mainly because they didn't have the tiled resources in time. Once the tiled resources arrive, I expect an update. I am actually surprised they can achieve 900p without tiled resources.

This has pretty much always been the case since competiting consoles have existed. Its blown up so much this gen because we are in the age of the internet and social media. Its made worse by the fact that the more powerful console has a cheaper SKU.

The resolution itself isn't the issue persay, its indicative of the power gap.

Regardless, if one console has the advantage against a multiplat it will be publicized, either by the media or the gaming community anyway.

e.g Digital Foundry will come out with an XB1 PS4 comparison and then if they have the same framerate but different resolutions, they will make an article about it which will spawn a reaction eventually.

Not a big difference between the two and this isn't a game where the graphics really matter. It could be a bad sign for the overall picture, but just as an isolated game it's a non issue in my opinion.

This is what I am saying. Right now isn't really the thing to worry about. If there are issues now especially with this game (which isnt that bad at all) it will get worse with games that are 10x more demanding coming out next year.

Why? Sometimes games just aren't optimized adquately. The Xbox One launched with a more demanding game and it ran at 1080p60.

There is a more demanding game launching a month after Trials that runs at 1080p60.

Over time the development gets better and easier allowing for better graphics and higher resolution, it doesn't work the opposite way.

You're right, development will get better, but didn't help the PS3 one bit last gen did it? The clear winner of multiplat ports was the Xbox 360 from 2006-2007 which foreshadowed the rest of the gen for years to come. Even EA is using the PS4 is the lead demonstrative platform for UFC in their commercials now (even though the Microsoft is paying for their exclusive services).  Getting better at developing for platforms will mostly help people get around the issues the console has first. Naughty Dog had big plans for Uncharted but were held back by the power of the PS3, which means when it hits the PS4, good lord there will be very little holding back. The PS3 versions of the game even though beautiful had a lot of trickery in it to keep the quality of what they put into it there. In multiplat games its much more of a straight forward porting process, which is what you'll be seeing in exclusives. Can't wait to see how to effects Halo and Gears. They will need no trickery because the power is right in the palm of their hands now, but it only poses a problem when put up against another platform that has a standard already.

Um, hell yes it helped the PS3. Maybe you didn't own a PS3 early in the gen but multiplatform games were terrible on it in comparison. By mid gen and into the end of the gen the PS3 was for the most part right there with the 360 in most games and the ones where the 360 had the edge it was minimal at best. You just make my point for me by bringing up the 360.

Either way as I said, Wolfenstein comes out a month after Trials and unless the developers were lying, it's 1080p60. So this 900p thing with Trials becomes rather meaningless.

LoL, watch Wolfenstein come out but have notably worse LOD, AA, etc in order to hit the target on XB1. Forza is a good bit simpler, and they had to cut the quality massively from the E3 PC build to hit 1080.

It's either that or the the models will look really awful (a rare example of the old pre-launch theory that devs would only design games towards the weaker console and not raise settings whatosever on the more powerful one). Thankfully that theory has been blown to bits by and large. The gap in horsepower is on the order of 40% or even more depending on situation.

Could be the most successful thread of this year behind the usual "Nation" threads. Respect, would be also cool if at least 5 people would have shown so much interest in this game before we heard about the resolution.

Hehe not even close. We've had lots of threads with way more posts

The Ghosts resolution thread reached over 1,000 replies.

Now that was big.
