I think we just found the world's first fundamentalist atheist.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

Atheism is a religion too.

Atheism can be many things but clearly its not a religion. For me atheism is about rejecting fantasy however appealing and accepting the hard reality of nature and evolution, not because I want to but because the evidence is compelling. Often atheism is portrayed by religious people as some sort of anger against god but of course no such anger exists because god is only a fictional fantasy figure to atheists. It would be like holding a grudge against the easter bunny.

Agreed.  Sam Harris said it well, actually:

“In fact, "atheism" is a term that should not even exist. No one ever needs to identify himself as a "non-astrologer" or a "non-alchemist." We do not have words for people who doubt that Elvis is still alive or that aliens have traversed the galaxy only to molest ranchers and their cattle. Atheism is nothing more than the noises reasonable people make in the presence of unjustified religious beliefs.”

They sure do over react alot over something that should be fantasy to them.

That's more because public policy is being set on bad or no evidence.

O_o... Well if you look at events in the past and present you could see why people would take it seriously.  If someone wanted to shape our laws based on what they thought pleased Zeus, you'd start taking Zeus pretty seriously.  Do you even history/current event bro?

"Trying to disagree?" How about list one example of what the hell you're talking about. Like married 'Christian' lawmakers who vote against gay marriage for ruining the 'traditional family' on a religious basis and then get caught making out with their married staff members? Because I think it applies then. What are some examples where you feel it is inappropriate? Also, I don't care.

Are you sure you don't care? Because it seems you really got into trying to disprove me here.

I'm glad to see you're bursting with examples.

Why would I want to even try with someone who "doesn't care" and is seemingly stubborn in his view on the matter?

Good grief really? Christians and other religious people going around killing and hurting people everyday, all the time. Then this one crazy guy goes off and they are all 'why me! martyr martyr.'

I apologize if it's satire, but so sick of people that claim religion to bully, hurt and murder others, then cry discrimination when they get called out.

PS If you have to TELL people you are a Christian, you probably aren't a very good one.

Soldier killed for not believing in God: http://rt.com/usa/soldier-texas-green-ramirez-771/

No reason to apologize, you're not saying anything that shouldn't be open for a very serious discussion.

Thanks man, just a little sensative on the issue.  Most athiest I know are the most normal kind people ever, and some of the most Religious use their fait and doctorine as a way to exploit others or not take responsibility for their actions.

And a couple of thing recently.  Someone told me they couldn't find anything about a certain USA center Church in Utah doing anything wrong regarding the last 20 years legally marganilizing certain faimilies (hint, they are the only Church in California history guilty of election tamperting).   http://www.californiaprogressreport.com/site/mormons-found-guilty-13-counts-prop-8-malfeasance-fined-fppc

Same Church -  people of colour have less rights and opportunities that other, and women shouldn't speak their mind:

And a cruel self ritcheous legistlator who is telling parents of special needs kids that it's 'God's punishment for abortion' regardless if they have had one or not.  http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2014/04/12/virginia-delegate-who-claimed-disabled-children-are-gods-punishment-for-abortion-is-running-for-congress/

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

This is the kind of thread that made me avoid joining this site before, but what the heck... I'll bite just this once.

OT: If that's the real reasoning for the guy to attack his roommate, I'd say he's insane. It's okay if he doesn't believes in a God or religion, but he had to be unhinged to attack someone who resembles a person he doesn't believe in. I'm not gonna overgeneralize. He's a separate case. I'm sure a good part of atheists are pretty tolerant.

As a side note, I really don't approve when atheists dismiss God and religion as a fantasy just because they think they are 100% right. I'm not looking to argue with anyone here about the veracity of any position. It's just that making inflammatory comments like that doesn't make anyone look serious or tolerant. It's not my intention to offend. It's just to give a point of view.
