Early: It is, not gonna release before holidays 2015 (I'm afraid), and did they ever have a Zelda playable at its first showing?

bolded: no evidence and skyward sword had a demo right away.

Had it? As I recall they first showed a first piece of artwork at E3 2009, then in 2010 they showed the graphics style... no playable demo before E3 2011.

As for evidence: Skyward Sword was released november 2011, that's 2 1/2 years ago. And, see above, we haven't seen anything so far. Would be very atypical if Nintendo skipped the long buildup. I know, it's not really evidence... but it doesn't feel like they will release it soon. But hey I'd LOVE to be proven wrong. Can't wait for the next Zelda.

artwork is artwork. the game was announced at E3 2010, with a full playable demo.

bolded: 1/2 years ago? it will be 3 years at the end of 2014, 3 years is a usual dev cycle for zelda, SS took longer because they decided to use motion plus when the project was already advanced. iwata also stated he was aiming for the zelda team to keep the 3 year cycle in the future and we know the game could have been shown last year. so, it's not that it's impossible for it to be a 2015 title, but it has good chances of releasing in 2014 and some people simply say 2015 based on nothing.

Sorry but no, man :) Look it up, SS was first publicly playable in summer 2011.

And I didn't write 1/2 year, I wrote 2 1/2 years.

I do think that Hyrule Warriors is an indication that Zelda U might show up later. It looks kinda... crappy, and Nintendo doesn't usually rent out the Zelda IP to other developers. My conclusion is that they needed something to fill the gap.

As I said, I'd be the happiest person if Zelda U would release this year. It's my favourite game series. But Smash looks like their holiday heavyweight, accompanied by a Mario Kart console bundle, I think, and Yoshi / X / Metroid (?).

SKYWARD SWORD WAS ANNOUNCED AND PLAYABLE AT E3 2010.

hyrule warriors is an indicator of nothing, it's not zelda and nintendo isn't developing it. and there's no magical rule stopping nintendo from releasing more than one game during holidays.

I stand corrected. Sorry. I had just read this article when posting:

http://www.play.tm/news/33876/skyward-sword-to-make-public-debut-at-comic-con/

And Wikipedia doesn't mention the 2010 demo either. Oh well.

If you say so. It's a second Zelda themed game for the same system. Not exactly unrelated. And normal people don't even know what studio is behind their games. Ask a random customer at Gamestop who made Metroid: Other M.

You chose to ignore the points I made: Hyrule Warriors (HW) is supposed to sell on the Zelda name, that's its sole reason of existence. Other than Zelda U, HW is announced for 2014. A hypothetical holiday release (= november) of Zelda U leaves just a short release window for HW (july - september maybe?)... and it looked super early and rough in december. Possible, yeah! But unlikely.

Who said "one game during holidays"? I mentioned 3.

have you seen the dinasty warriors games? what they showed in december is already a finished game by their standards.

and I meant that there's nothing pointing that HW is meant to give people their "zelda fix" for 2014, so it's no indicator. it's just an easy exclusive nintendo got and I'm thinking will release during summer in japan.

That bad?! Wow. No, I have never played one, just watched some videos, following the HW announcement. Thought DW was regarded as a well-loved franchise.

You're hearing it here first guys;

Hyrule Warriors: August 2014
Zelda U: April 2015

I still think X has a good chance at releasing this year as well, it looked to be quite far in development at the last Direct they showed it. Yarn Yoshi possibly, but they haven't shown anything about it for a long time so who knows. That rumored NFC game maybe, depends on how big and high profile it is. SMT vs. FE I wouldn't give a real chance of releasing anywhere before holiday 2015.

April of 2015? That's perfectly fine! As long as I won't have to wait until the end of 2015 to play Zelda U, everything will be OK!

I'm a Gamestop customer, and Team Ninja helped make Other M. Also, (little known fact) Monolith Soft helped make Skyward Sword.

Why not? There have been plenty of Zelda games that released outside of the holidays. In fact, there's only been a few that released simultaniously during the holiday in all three regions. Yes, those are mostly the last few, but I don't think there's a 'rule'.

In any event, I don't think it'll be november this year, it'd sooner be november next year I agree.

EDIT: Though, honestly, I should've mentioned there's a high chance I just threw that out there without thinking about it .
