Forums - Nintendo - new to WiiU

ok finally got the wife to agree to let me get a WiiU on top of my ps4(not literally) but we went to the store and there were so many freaking bundles, theres a 8gb console for 200.00  a 32gb for 300$  is it worth the extra $$$ to get the 32gb model or can i save the cash get a few games and upgrade the 8gb down the line somehow, the guy at the store had no clue if that was possible, also he was telling me the WiiU doesnt use the same controllers as the Wii and i would need to rebuy the wii motes that look the exact same to me, also is it true my Wii library including accesories like wiifit balance board wont work on the wiiU as per the bestbuy employee.  i havent paid much attention to the wiiU but i saw that they had SSB coming soon along with a slew of mario and a luigi game out now.  Plus windwaker in HD which was my fav Zelda game.  just looking for some info here.

SSB is coming ot for the 3DS this Summer- The Wi u version will be released later as early as X mas and late as ???

1) Get the 32 gb model with a bundle, usually there is a Mario Bundle or WWHD bundle and they are usually for $300 where I live. And yea, if you can get the 32gb one, its better cause it comes with the wii motion sensor, free game and a deluxe promotion which means with every game you purchase from eshop, 10% of that will go into credits which you can use to buy games

2) Wii controllers do work with wiiU such as wiimotes and etc, but not all games support all controller

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

All Wii games and Wii controllers work on Wii U. The guy you spoke to was a dick.

You can have external storage on the Wii U so I would make the decision based on what ratio you decide to buy games physical/digital

All wii controllers work and all wii games too.

all wii controllers work with games that specify so on the back of the case. As for upgrading the hard drive u do need on that supplies its own power from an outlet as the usb ports dont provide enough on their own. and i agree that the guy u spoke to was a jerk and i have had to deal with such before as nintendo seems to have a bad rep in some stores.

thanks and yea i figured there was something fishy he kept trying to push me from the WiiU to the X1 which was way more money, and i found that bundle you were talking about on amazon with Luigi U and mario bros U for 300 with 32gb. i got one question all those games i bought from the Wii store will they carry over or do i ahve to keep my wii to play those games, mainly the classics like Super Mario Bos. 1,2,3 among others.

IMHO if you don't mind having another little box next to the U, get the cheaper one and put the savings towards a HDD. Even a 1TB USB 3.0 External bus-powered drive can be had for like $70ish. Make sure it's the 2.5" laptop-sized drives, as they don't require their own PSU, they work off the standard 500MA / .5A power supplied by the USB port.
