Forums - Nintendo - EDGE : EAD Tokyo already working on next Mario game

You don´t say.gif

It´s EAD Tokyo, if I´m not mistaken, their last "big" retail game not named Mario was Donkey Kong Jungle Beat for the Gamecube, which came out in 2004.

So, I wouldn´t expect anything besides Mario from them....still waiting for something that truly feels 'like a Mario 64 part 2'.

I really don't want another galaxy game, they were great but that is kinda played out for me by now, maybe a 3D mario with inspiration from an RPG or Banjo-Kazooie with more focus on collection.

Hoping for Super Mario 64-2 (preferably not with that name)

Super Mario Universe.

It can keep the Galaxy/3D World creativity...but the majority of levels should be bigger, more open and sandbox-style like Super Mario 64. And none of this fixed-camera-angle crap...don't get wrong, it works brilliantly on 3DS with the 3D...on Wii U though it wasn't ideal. (Yes, I know you could move the camera around in some levels...but it was pretty limited.) I just really want to have some sense of exploration in a 3D Mario game again...we've had the Galaxies and 3D Land/3D World, and we have the 2D Mario games, which are all pretty linear...it's time to open things up again. No time limits, no flagpole, no one-way path to the end of levels. That's my wish.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

Yeah, that's EAD Tokyo's job: So I think we will see something more open world and of course for the Wii U. Maybe the Wii U already has Mario games but every first party title is a good factor to buy a Wii U.

I don't hate Microsoft, I don't hate PC,
I don't prefer Sony, I don't prefer Nintendo.
...Ok, I love Nintendo but this is something about tolerance, ok?

I'm a gamer with one of the greatest hobbies and I want to share this greatness with everyone.

Nintendo learning nothing I see.

You've got to quantify this or it comes off as trolling.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Id prefer something other than Mario tbh, but ill say theyre good at it so this is great news for mario fans and EAD fans if they want more mario

Considering there's 7 EAD teams,  I wouldn't doubt we're gonna get something other than Mario as well. EAD Tokyo does the major Mario games, but the Kyoto teams are probably all working on their own projects too.

I believe they were working on another project since before 3dWorld.

It is very likely. They even said that Mario 3D World wasn't going to be the main 3D Mario game for Wii U.

Cool!  Had know idea they had 7 teams.  Im hoping for a new ip mostly but id be happy with one of Nintendo's devs working on Metroid, Kid Icarus, and  maybe a new Earthbound.  Or a new 3D DK like Rare's DK64.

Again with saying something negative, but doesn't say exactly why?
