Give me Super Mario 64 Squared and fuck gaming y'all can have it back!

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."

Super Mario Universe.

It can keep the Galaxy/3D World creativity...but the majority of levels should be bigger, more open and sandbox-style like Super Mario 64. And none of this fixed-camera-angle crap...don't get wrong, it works brilliantly on 3DS with the 3D...on Wii U though it wasn't ideal. (Yes, I know you could move the camera around in some levels...but it was pretty limited.) I just really want to have some sense of exploration in a 3D Mario game again...we've had the Galaxies and 3D Land/3D World, and we have the 2D Mario games, which are all pretty linear...it's time to open things up again. No time limits, no flagpole, no one-way path to the end of levels. That's my wish.

This. As much as I like Galaxy, I'd like to see a return to something more like SM64, just grander in scope, with bigger levels, etc.

Oh, and I found this fan-made box art:

So Bowser morphed with a mushroom?

Nintendo EAD Tokyo is composed of two teams. One of the teams (the team that made Galaxy) has not released a full retail game since 2007. Hopefully that means something big is on the way.

I already have 3D World so this would have to be really good to get me to buy a 2nd 3D Mario for Wii U.

Here's hoping for something other than "Galaxy 3". I wasn't the biggest fan of the first 2 games. (Although they were decent enough)

The ironic thing about all the fans who are wanting "Mario 64" style open worlds, is that 3D World has several chunks of land that are bigger than anything in 64. Sprawling Savannah is way bigger than a lot of entire levels in 64. I think memory/nostalgia distorts the actual size of 64 for a lot of people.
