Forums - Nintendo - Smash Bros. Direct tonight Will Not Reveal Release Date.

Over reaction central...they will be announcing a release window, not really sure why anyone would care exactly when the game is coming out at this point. The release window will provide just as much information...

depends on which release window...

"SOON" - from now til the end of time window

"Later this year" - sounds better

"2015" - Internet will explode with doom threads

"fall of 2014" almost the same with "later this year" but more specific

"winter of 2014" -  few weeks/months after "fall of 2014"

"please understand" - we don't understand

Some folks seem eager to believe anything bad.

Unless Zelda is actually ready for this year, delaying Smash Bros to 2015 means they might as well just stop Wii U production in June altogether. They're NOT going to do that unless there's something big in the cards that we don't know about.

The game they announced during last E3 to be added for holidays was delayed to fill the gap between holidays and spring. Anything can happen now.

OT: I'm expecting a delay to 2015 around spring and holiday for another game like Animal Crossing and Wii Sports U.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I don't think it will be delayed until 2015. Nintendo needs to release it this year.

By definition, no it won't.

'October 15th, 2014' is FAR more information than 'Q3 2014.'

Nintendo are terrible at this, and almost half the time their 'release window' ends up getting delayed, particularly with Smash Bros.

They are the ones making the game. They ought to know when it will be done. They've been working on it for years.

with the dynamic nature of release dates (especially from Nintendo as you pointed out yet somehow still seemed to overlook), it pretty much does. Nintendo could make a guess now and say what day they think the game will be coming and then move it back a couple times, each time pissing people off, or they could just say the region when the game will be done and announce a more specific date when we get closer to release and not piss people off.

PS: There are a lot of factors that go into making a game, especially one as polished and content filled as the stuff Sakurai makes. Add onto that the fatigued condition of Sakurai himself and there are a lot of wild cards when it comes to the specific date.

they are probably saving the release date for e3, with probably an awesome trailer if their smart about it.

A part of me wants the game to be delayed just for the meltdowns. This is the biggest Smash product they've yet made. Remember there is also a 3ds version so they are essentially doing twice the work. I seriously doubt Ninty will stagger release for the two versions, so it wouldnt surprise me if there is a delay.

The 'dynamic nature of release dates" isn't like a sudden blizzard or something that just happens. Nintendo's chronic problem with it IS what I'm complaining about.

Yes they desperately needs to release it this year, but does that mean that they will? ...

Yep.

I dunno. That story about hiring developers for a Smash Bros releasing in 2015 worried me for some reason.

With Namco Bandai helping them this time, I wanna think a delay is much less likely.
