Forums - Microsoft - So Kinect Sports Rivals isn't doing so hot

Do you agree with the critics?

Yes 114 74.51%

No 38 24.84%

Total:152

I dont think it was expected to score as much as a core game. It is in lines with motion control games. Anyways from what ive played of it it is impressive and def accurate as far as wake racing goes. It also has a really good artstyle, though i wouldnt expect less coming from rare. I was hoping for a 70 but i never expected more.

Did anyone expect high reviews for this?

Probably not, it's just a little disappointing that it's not being well-recieved, it was supposed to be the game that demonstrated the power of Kinect (which it mostly does, but people may not buy it if the game dosen't look good)

As far as kinect goes it does show the accuracy and the face scanning tech is great.  They are now sharing that tech with other devs.  But as far as a game goes its hard to say it is as good as core games.

Honest opinion, i dont think kinect only games will ever be amazing for core gamers.  There is cool things that can be done with kinect like the face scanning rare did, but to try and replace controllers wont work, not for the core.  It is more for party type stuff which is exactly what KSR is going to be

Thing is though; I believe that Kinect as a gaming device and, by extension, titles such as this, are aiming at a demographic that has largely left home consoles in general and are mostly wasted efforts.

Most of the casual fitness motion games typically review badly, but they sell pretty decently so its not to shocking to see a low score.

Yup, doing like I predicted. Critics doesn´t like these types of motion-controlled games so they rate them low. I like them though :).

I wouldn't put any stock into this because everyone's experience with Kinect is going to be different.

For me I never have issues with voice control's or body tracking on the Xbox One. A lot of people have the same story as me and a lot of people have the exact opposite story.

IMO if you have had good experiences with motion controls then try Kinect sports. If not then don't bother.

I don't think this one will sell anywhere near as well as the first Kinect Sports. The total price point is just too high.

Casuals would be more prone to buy an existing Kinect Sports game or maybe a Wii U once Mario Kart hits the shelves. For $500+, it's pretty easy to find a lot of other fun things to do with your friends and family.

There's a fine line between being cheesy and being genuinely charming and fun. From what I see, this game falls on the wrong side of the line IMO.

XOne Flop confirmed.

Could still be fun though. Anything that metas above 60 I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to until a few hours of gameplay.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

It comes out tomorrow. It will be a hit with some casuals and a good game to play when you have people over thats about it

True, just wondering if someone tried a demo or got their hands on it early :P

I only played the jet ski demo. it is great for what it is but the hardcore audience that are early adopters will not jump on this right away. this game will propably sell 200k first week, 50k second, maybe  10k each week for the rest of the year. Bundles will make this game popular!

I've said it before man. No one asked for this game. I forgot what prediction you made in your thread, but it certainly will not reach that number.

So much for the prediction thread i saw yesterday estimating 700k first week sales.
