The issue with that is reviews do not = quality. Dynasty Warriors is one of my favorite franchises and it never reviews very well. |
Or perhaps: reviews <> your personal taste
maybe even: personal taste <> quality
Is it the right decision? | |||
| Yes | 43 | 49.43% | |
| No | 44 | 50.57% | |

http://www.dorkly.com/comic/60806/the-future-of-nostalgia Nostalgia can really blind someone. Halo CEA got a 80's meta in 2011. Pretty good, but just saying every game, no matter how revolutionary at its time, ages as well. Halo fans view and judge Halos in their own ways. Some priortize MP over all else and some value lore. Hell you will find those who like ODST above all other Halos. It is all quite subjective. I would rather not get into the reasoning why Halo 4 would be considered better then 1, but I will leave you with that comic to caution the dangers of nostalgia blinding you. |
I agree that nostalgia can cause some games to be rated higher than others, but Halo isn't very old and I don't think it fits this case.
Thats not good. Now the bad and average games will sell worse.

Really, this will help companies? As if metacritic scores aren't given way too much attention by the industry already anyway, linking the salaries or bonuses people in game development get to a website that aggregates opinions is disgusting already, if these scores started getting an even bigger importance through things like Amazon this would really only have negative effects on companies and on reviews as well, cause the more importance metacritic gains the more realistic becomes the whole "all reviewers are paid off" scenario, that some conspiracy theorists are already seeing today.
Also I find it a bit insulting to suggest that game developers aren't already working as hard they can to make the games they develop as good as they can in the time they have.
So I'm happy that Amazon has seemingly removed the Metacritic scores again.

Under that pretense quality does not exist because everyone has "personal taste"
