Personally I think MetaCritic is a bad place to get information based on a game, especially since the amount of criteria that has to be met is so "NOT SPECIFIC" and ridiculous that it just make it so untrustworthy.
And also the fact that publishers make MetaCritic out to be the "BE ALL END ALL" to descisions made about future gaming possibilities is really ridiculous.
Its just Sad that this is what it has come to for games to survive.
Hey if you think people should use MetaCritic to choose games thats fine and dandy, but MetaCritic is really just a bunch of fanboy's giving there opinion because anyone can be on MetaCritic as all you need is a website and no credit to actually be on there. Don't believe me Just look at some of the reviewers that are on MetaCritic and tell me that you have heard of all of them or at least half of them, I mean Sure IGN and GT will be on there but there are a lot of reviewers on there that most of us have never heard of but they are taken at the same level as some of these other more well know reviewers and that right there can bring down(or up) a games Meta Heavily.

Even while aware on how infamous the metascores became, I'm undecided. Yes, the consumers would get a general consensus that will help them to quickly decide between their options. But what about consumers that doesn't know about Metacritic's biased scores? They might be pushed to choose a game they won't like. And what about the score updates? For instance, if the score started in 98, Amazon puts that score on the product and forgets to update it when the real metascore is 82. Even the Metacritic site takes too long to update the score of the main page with the one of the game page. In the end of the day, it's a double edged sword.

Uh oh.......metacritic just got a LOT more relevant.

If anything, this will help all companies work harder because their score will make or break a games legs.

I hope this will motivate developers to make better games. Metacritic might not be perfect but it's not as biased as people think when there's 70+ reviews from all different sources. Shovelwares will show their true colors which is good for the consumers that know nothing about video games.

Nostalgia can really blind someone. Halo CEA got a 80's meta in 2011. Pretty good, but just saying every game, no matter how revolutionary at its time, ages as well.

Halo fans view and judge Halos in their own ways. Some priortize MP over all else and some value lore. Hell you will find those who like ODST above all other Halos. It is all quite subjective. I would rather not get into the reasoning why Halo 4 would be considered better then 1, but I will leave you with that comic to caution the dangers of nostalgia blinding you.
