Forums - Gaming - Making KH 1.5 and 2.5 HD as exclusives makes no sense

We know that Sony doesn't pay anything for exclusive games, it's rather SE who choose to make an exclusive

I'm sure, these games would do very bad sales on 360.
Especially the PS3 sales aren't that high.

Just to make a comparison because some in this thread say it shouldn't be on 360 because Final Fantasy sells much more on PS3. First of all just because a game sells more on one platform doesn't mean it shouldn't be on another platform. With that logic most games would be only on one platform except for those with gigantic sales even on the second best platform.

It's like saying Borderlands 2 should have never released on PS3 because Borderlands 1 sold better on 360.

But more important is the fact that KH 1 and 2 sold each more in North America as in all other countries of this planet together. This clearly shows that North America is the most important market for this franchise and because of very high 360 sales there it probably also means that many former PS2 players moved to 360 in this market. So, comparing a franchise which generates many sales in Europe and Japan (FF) where PS3 sold also much more as 360 to a franchise generating most sales in North America (KH) where 360 sold most isn't really how you should do it.

The percentual gap between Finfal Fantasy on PS3 and 360 should be much higher as it would probably be with KH on PS3 and 360 if you take the logical factors in account. And yeah, they release KH3 on Xbox One so that should  be an extra reason to release the rest on 360.

So what you're saying is, the WiiU should get Arkham Asylum and Akham City ports, as well as all AC games prior to Black Flag, because it got Akham Origins and Black Flag, and those are story driven games (as opposed to requesting Titanfall 1 on PS4 since TF2 is bound to come to PS4, but that's just a multiplayer shooter).

I mean, they did just make the Heritage Collection for AC with no WiiU version in sight. It does "make sense", right? But you accept that it's not gonna happen and get over it. Should X360 get MGS4 since Phantom Pain is coming to XBone? It "makes sense", but you're not saying anything about it.

Edit: wait I made a mistake but just to clarify it, this thread was mostly about KH so that I didn't really think much about other potential games on Wii U

To talk about other games I first have to think about it more so that I can't really give spontaneous answer to this^^

Edit 2: Still not even sure what some of the stuff  you mentioned is (never heard about a Heritage edition) but if Ubisoft could expect decent sales of games on Wii U compared to the other platforms they release them on then yes, Wii U should get them. If Ubisoft can only expect maybe 5% of the sales on Wii U compared to another console then no, they should maybe not relase it on Wii U (it is obviously stiill a case to case scenario).

Not sure why you mention Batman since Batman is on Wii U and even if there is a Batman game not on Wii U I would only have to think about it if another console would get a remastered edition of that (let' say PS4 will get an Arkham Knight edition with all games)  since we talk here about something with KH which will get a new release on PS3 and only because of that I think about KH on 360. If there would be no KH HD on PS3 I would also not think about if it would also make sense on 360.

What I said is that all the circumstances seem to show that the HD editions of KH wouldn't sell much worse on 360 as on PS3 and because of that they should be on 360. If we would talk about a franchise mostly successful in Europe or Japan it could look different but KH strenghts is in North America and because of that I don't see how KH HD editions should sell so much worse on 360 as on PS3. It would sell worse but If they thought that a HD edition will be successful on PS3 then a port to 360 shouldn't be that crazy especially when they want people who have a 360 and buy an Xbox One to get KH3.

The main reason why nobody is mentioning some other games remastered on something like 360 is because there is no PS3 remastered version of it. If we would get another game remastered on PS3 which would theoretically also sell decent on 360 you would get the same posts but you can only ask why the remastered version isn't on one but another sytsem if there is a remastered edition.

I disagree....I feel that they should have released the game on PS3. XBOX360 and Wii NOT Wii U to get the most sales. Wii U would have been a TERRIBLE choice to release the game on IMO. But as others have said Sony must have worked out some deal to get them exclusive to the PS3.

Um, ok.

Well like everything in a business; there is always a reason. You can't put this into a vacuem and say "oh it's a bad move they should change it blah blah" without a reason as to why it happened in the first place.

If all game developers/publishers wanted to they would put their game on as many platforms as possible. Reason??? To make the most money.

Sony obviously wanted to keep KH assosiated with Playstation. Hence the exclusivity.

You're welcome :)

And this move hurts gamers.

I think you overestimate. The biggest JRPG fans will already have a PS3 because that's where all the JRPGs are. While they could have made it multiplatform, it isn't, so you can't go changing that.

Perhaps you didn't notice but Arkham City has already been released to WiiU. Actually even before Arkham Origins was released.

My bad, I slipped up on a game (and AC3 was on WiiU as well), but the point of my post still remains. Should WiiU get Akham Asylum and all ACs up through 3 remastered? Should X360 get an MGS4 port? I don't see anyone bringing this up, especially for MGS since MGSV is big and we're still dealing with 7th gen consoles.

I agree. Even if KH3 can't run on Wii U (Might be possible) it should get some Kingdom Hearts!

Zero999 said:

The Kingdom Hearts franchise is scattered among several consoles: ps2, GBA, psp, DS and 3DS. Because of that, it's probable that only some diehard fans have played all the games in the franchise. With that in mind, it makes complete sense to develop two HD collections, featuring 6 out of 7 games in the franchise. What makes piss poor sense is to make said collections exclusive to one platform. it's completely counter productive to the basic idea of allowing several people who couldn't play all the titles to do so. it's even a great option to bring new fans but the potential get's wasted.

The correct move would be releasing 1.5 and 2.5 on both Wii U, xbox 360 and ps3, allowing the biggest possible audience to play those six games and get ready for Kingdom Hearts 3.

It does make sense. Kingdom Hearts is a franchise that is associated with the Playstation brand. Bringing it to WiiU wouldnt make sense because the game would flop and 360 doesnt get it because Japanese games dont sell on their system, SE decided the few extra k people that'd buy on 360 wasnt worth the trouble and porting cost.

It wouldnt surprise me that KH3 was at some point cancelled  for Xbone. The dominant position of the PS4 will ensure it gets the broadest reach possible.

Your situation isn't defined by choice but by circumstances, correct? No one can fault you for that.

Now, if you made a thread begging for ports of those games, you'd open yourself up to some criticism.
