I think the loss will be a little less than 1.1 billion but close enought to 1 billion... so no console in the world can change that... a huge successful console profits what? 300 million?

| DD_Bwest said: while the PS4 itself wont change much, PS+ and online purchases could play a large roll. all 3 PSN cards have been on the top sellers on amazon consistently. More and more people are buying online(higher margin) and havent we heard PS+ has more than doubled? Ofcourse its not going to erase a loss that large. on another note, has anyone been following the yen? I know its fluctuations before have played a big part in numbers, but i havent really been following it |
The yen has been roughly at 100 Yen to 1 US Dollar this past yearly fluctuating from 95 to 105. The big swing was going from 75-80 range in 2011 and 2012 to the current set up.
It is better for Sony, but I would think at this point that change is built more into their projections. We shall see.

Sony's fiscal year ended on December 31st and they forcasted in february since that was their earnings release date (February 6th), i doubt with a month into the fiscal first quarter they knew how much the PS4 would contribute since give they announced updates to PS4 sales in late february before the Japanese release and in early march when they crossed 6 mil. The forcast was 5 mil.

I assure you that in February the forecast was not 5 million. Lol they would have to start taking consoles back.

lol I will remember this when the numbers are released. Don't let PS4 success cloud your judgement of the parent corporation. |
You can remember all you want, im pointing out that the improvement will come in their operating income, not the 1.1 billion dollar loss they forcasted. They already took a charge of 870 million dollars (20 billion additional yen for 2014 ending in March and an additional 70 billion yen for next year) for restructuring.

Can you please link where their revised their PS4 sales upward? Im looking at their release for the last fiscal quarter (released February 6th) and their forcast for PS4 sales is still 5 million.

They were just under 5 million then and then sold 5.3 million on Feb 18th. You believe that they still expected 5 million by the end of March?
