I can see Sony reporting higher revenue then they have forcasted (which remained unchanged at ~7 trillion yen), higher operating income (due to the success of the PS4 and its services)

The main source of the 1.1 billion dollar net income loss is the addition of 90 billion yen in restructuring charges (870 million dollars) for this year and next year and you are seeing the impact of that (closing PC business, closing stores and layoffs which cost money due to attrition), Sony expects to earn 80 billion yen in operating income this year (earnings before taxes and charges and currency flucations) down from the original 170 billion yen and they hope to save ~100 billion yen starting in 2015 from all the changes

I thinking a even bigger lost then 1.1 billion.

After all the buildings they sold, after all the employees they fired (and will continue to fire) and after the success of the ps4, they better make a profit next year!

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Maybe it will be slightly less than $1.1bn but Sony does like to surprise people with higher than expected losses.

But, this thread is about if there will be less loss after the huge PS success. So far I didn't find any thread with this kind of question.

Once you entered you won't be the same anymore. A blog about life.

I guess no building sales this year to pad the losses.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

as soon as MS stock comes down a little I will be buying some, but I am on the fence about sony stock. I may wait this one out a little while longer. Then again, I may jump in and get some while its cheap, because I know they are in the middle of reorganizing and that takes awhile and money.

Have you realized yet that an extra 2 million or whatever sold with low profit margins will do very little to dent that 1.1 billion Net loss?
