Consoles do still have the advantage of convenience. To someone like me its just so much hassle to get Dolphin running, I'd rather just not go through all that.

Well, running Dolphin and running a game off Steam are two different things.
If Nintendo brought it's games to Steam, it would actually be more convenient than consoles.

No more discs... No more waiting on patches... Just click and play.

Dolphin though can require ninja levels of trickery for some people.

Fair enough, but I'd still have to figure out how to configure the Gamepad, (if it's even supported) and hook my laptop up to the telly every time I wanted to play cos I don't like small screens. Plus deal with specs, graphical settings, framerate vs detail etc, cos my lappie is kinda weak... XD

Less worry, less money, less games.

Steam big picture mode on your TV.
If the controller is plug and play, it's no more complicated than setting up an Xbox 360 controller.

Hardware side is an entirely different ball game, I personally dont worry about graphics settings and framerates... I put everything on Max, if my PC can't run the game at max then the game doesn't deserve to run with my Quad Radeon 290's.

That's the thing, I bought my laptop for web browing and word processing, which it's good at, but it's only got 4GB of RAM, a dual core 2.2GHz T6670 CPU, and since no GPU specs come up on my sysem properties, I'm not even sure it has one...

There is a reason why exclusives look better than multiplats. It is because developers can focus in on one hardware configuration and really optimize the game. Nintendo loses this advantage by not working with their own hardware.

This is juuuust a guess, but I am pretty sure Nintendo games would not run better on my 9 year old PC. I will go ahead and stick with the console.

They should go Xbox exclusive. Get some decent hardware backing up Nintendo.

That said, once console companies stop making hardware, they lose all appeal. Look at Sega.

Beware of what you wish for...

Nintendo games on other hardware would never be a same.

I've played almost all of my Nintendo games on PC and you're absolutely right. It's not the same, it's better.

you're an idiot

Another one of these threads really?

Surely you can understand that there are separate teams working on hardware and software,
they are completely different fields.

You cannot just get rid of the hardware manufacturing side and move all of that team on to developing software, it would be a train wreck.
