Forums - Gaming - What game mechanics do you absolutely hate?

Locking difficulties until completing the game. Give me the hardest play through right off the bat. A lot of people said Last of Us was "meant to be played on Survivor". Well apparently ND disagreed, because you have to play through the game on another difficulty first. And once you have experienced a cinematic game like Last of Us, you lose a ton of that emotion and story elements playing through it again.

Almost all off beyond two souls.. Great story but game mechanics wise? Bleeeh

Looking to buy this game soon but I can't remember the reviews.  Are the mechanics the same as Heavy Rain?

Simple question really, no need to explain :)

Mine:

Rubberbanding - Recently played ModNation Racers on PS Vita, and it is the worst example of this I have ever played.  First place, boost all the way through a shortcut (which the AI racers never use) and come out of the shortcut in third place.  It's not a good game in any sense, but that's just ridiculous.

Stealth - unless it's in a stealth game, I hate it every time

Platforming - same as above.  I enjoy platformers, but if your game isn't designed around it, I really wish you wouldn't put in in

What are your hated game mechanics Chartz?

LOL I am playing modnation racers road trip too. I actually really enjoyed the game and I am aboout to get the platinum. On the short cuts I just boost-drift, come out of the short cut first and have more boost.
And actually I don't really hate any game mechanics.

I hate button mashing sequences because I can never do them :/

QTE can be annoying also

too many random battles
lack of waypoints in certain games
poor checkpoint saves
time limit segments

I especially dislike your char/party not healing after battles in rpg

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Naughty gods oops I mean naughty dog always lock the hardest difficulty, so do a lot of other developers. On top locking a difficulty is not a game mechanic.

Motion controls if it counts, nuff said.

I enjoyed it initially but it was things like the rubberbanding and terrible signposting that got me really frustrated, although I did see it through to the end of the campaign, so either it wasn't as bad as I remember or I was extremely bored at the time (probably the latter)

So they fail with every release then, cool.
