Forums - Sales - Castlevania lords of the Shadow 2 sales are terrible

That's okay, Lords of Shadow has always been terrible to begin with.

Maybe now they'll wake the fuck up and take the CV series back to it's roots, back to being GOOD. Either that or just pull a Capcom and just put the franchise to bed, since they're incapable of actually making good ones anymore.

Good. Maybe Konami will start treating the Castlevania franchise with more respect.............Nah. Who am I kidding?! They are going to start making half-assed Castlevania games for mobiles phones!

That's surprising. At least it isn't as bad as TW101.

Eh i must say no. Wonderful 101 has not the biggest orchester of all time. it was a realy small budget game. But this game was a AAA Game.

I was saying sales-wise. It's doing better.

Of course it sales better by a 160 million installbase. But to compare the 2 you must say how much it has cost to develope the game. That is why i say it is a complete fail.

Well duh. It doesn't change the fact that more people have played it in the first 2 weeks.

The game is a mixed bag, but i have completed it to 98%, so this will probably be the most accurate impressions you will see.
First, every review that moans about the stealth sections, ignore. Yeah they are puzzles and not actual stealth gameplay, but they also ammount to about 2% of your play time.
The real hazzards on this game are the auto targeting system, mostly on ranged projectiles and incredibly complex matrix the levels are connected by. Of course, you will only notice these if you try to delve deeper into the gameplay, but they will rear their ugly heads eventually. The only other thing is that the story didnt turn out as epic as i was expecting and is actually quite predictable aside one short appearance.
Aside from those execution problems the game has adefinitive castlevania vibe and if you liked the first or are curious about the series, its not a terrible game to get. Graphics are amazing too.

the game is mediocre, its a shame because it had good potential to be good.
it doesn't matter now since the creator of Symphony of the night left Konami and making a spiritual successor

Except he's not the creator of SotN, just like Keiji Inafune is falsely given the title of the creator of the Mega Man series when he actually had nothing to do with the series except for being the lead art designer and came up with the character designs.  Koji Igarashi was a lot more involved in SotN than Inafune was involved in Mega Man though.

IGA didn't actually become producer until remaking Castlevania Chronicles for the PSX so that game and beyond is where you see his influences.  It's not like he wasn't producer of a bad game though.  Nano Breaker for the PS2, Castlevania Curse of Darkness, Castlevania Judment, Castlevania Harmony of Despair., Castlevania Order of Shadows.  Also, Order of Ecclesia and Portrait of Ruin have are decent to good games, the level design is mostly point A to B with little divergence.  Harmony of Dissonance is the first time IGA was producer of an exploration Castlevania and while there's a lot good with it, there are also issues with it.  Juste and his moon jump for example.

For the first time i really want a publisher dead without it being a joke. Konami has nothing to add to gaming anymore

if konami dying means somebody else ends up with the Suikoden IP who will actually make new suikoden games... then I would be on board for that.

I believe Kojima is one of the problem.

problem? he seems to be the only guy over there that knows what the hell he is doing

Believe you this?

He is the Vicepresident of Konami and he is  responsible for a lot of bad decision by Konami.

I say not he is a bad Gamedeveloper god no. But in Managment he is terrible. Hell the entire Konami games SUCKS.

fair enough. I honestly did not know he held a postion THAT high in Konami. I concede

So I love Castlevania. Been a fan since the beginning. LoS2 doesn't deserve great sales. I hate to say it but it is true. Not only is it behind tons of entries in the series in general, it is not even close to as good as the 1st LoS game...

I made this thread again... Apparently everyone had this conversation without me and I didn't notice, not sure how that happened.

I'm actually genuinely concerned for this series now. I love Castlevania, it's one of the franchises I feel transcended the console war with good games on the NES, SNES, Mega Drive, and PSOne and I really like the way Lords Of Shadow played. This was actually one of my most anticipated games of the last few months and I still intend to get it, though I'm expecting it to fall to bargain bin levels very quickly so it may be worth waiting a couple of weeks.
