i feel bad for anyone who is waiting for AAA releases from japanese developers on consoles.

i wonder what the install base quota will be on ps4 before square releases FF ;)

time to pray the 10 year life cycle repeats itself this gen so "everyone" comes out a "winner". the doom is looking real until further notice.

Well this just proves Japanese consumers are very smart and understand my logic in refusing to buy another non-Nintendo console.

it's SEGA's revenge.. Also releasing Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin! one the PS3 robbed the PS4 from any meaningful JP exclusive.. they could have helped Sony..

Now I don't think the PS4 is a "major flop", it should achieve PS3 level sales thanks to big titles like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, GTA, and so on. Since the XBO is a non factor over there, and the WiiU's 3rd party support is nonexistent, that leaves PS4 as the only place to play major 3rd party titles.

I would really appreciate it if Japan throws away their smartphones and start buying consoles again. I'm sick of Square Enix putting fucking everything on mobile phones. I could have had Dragon Quest VIII on an HD console, could have, but now I can't.


Before it launched most people thought it would do about equal to the PS3, but after the record breaking launch I saw some being optimistic about Japan.

But they're not buying the WiiU either, they're buying phones. I don't think that makes them very smart.

PS4 is doing good, I'm surprised people still start these silly thread.

It's Japan people, don't expect crazy numbers from consoles in this territory, come on we all know Jap is all into portable. But again, PS4 is doing fine.

They really aren't buying anything non-portable. 3DS is/has done quite great and Vita is definitely on a recent uptick. And don't make fun of smartphone gamers. You'll make NikkoM sad!

Joke or not, when you consider the Wii U trajectory it is obvious that PS4 is in trouble there. Most of the people said that this would happen with the smartphone market and all but still this is alarming. Sony should do everything they can to kill off PS3 software support and end ensure that the software goes to PS4 instead. Persona 5 should have been a PS4 exclusive.

At this point, expecting PS4 to do PS3 numbers in Japan is very optimistic. Time will tell.
