To be more precise Sony is leasing the top 10 floors of the building for 15 years, they are not buying the building.  

Sony currently expects to lay-off around 5,000 employees worldwide before the start of the 2015 fiscal year.

3,500 jobs cut are from outside Japan, though there is no mention if any are from the move out of the old 37 floor Sony Tower.

Exactly, the 3ds is already sucessful and can sustain itself while they still keep neglecting the Wii U.

I have always imagined walking into those doors and it being something akin to Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

Now they have buildings to sell since they are doomed.

It's clear looking at this new sinny building that Nintendo doesn't care about long term and only wants to generate profits.

Some has to sell their buildings (Sony) and some build new ones ;)

They also shoud have dropped Gamepad support on this new HQ, makes the building too expensive.
