It will be the casuals who will decide the winner in the U.S., not people obsessed with video games 24/7. Right now, casuals do not want to buy the Xbox One at its current price point.

Here is why it has more pre-orders, Titanfall is the only XBONE exclusive that anyone cares about until Halo. Sony fans are like sweet Infamous lets add this to our growing list of awesomeness.
Titanfall is a must buy or get nothing else, while SS is a beautiful luxury to fill the time while the Playstation game log catches up
Several reason that I'm sure OP could have thought of by himself.
FPS vs Adventure game (just that should be enough)
On top of that it's an FPS from a developer known to be really good at making FPSs
It's much more marketted and it got a huge boost in popularity thanks to E3
inFamous has never been big, fyi inFamous 2 had 160k pre-orders the week of its release. So 250k with 3 weeks less on an much smaller install base isn't something I'd see as a bad thing.

After Titanfall and Kinect Sports Rivals, the XBOs cupboard seems pretty bare through May-July, unless some surprise announcements are made.

You know...... I think it's more to it than that. take another exclusive FPS for instance. Kill zone in a console with a higher install base will most likely still manage to be outsold by the x1 version of titan fall. They are both FPS games.......whats the difference?

XBox at it's current state is 2.5 million ahead, Yet we get non-stop DOOM threads, chest pounding and conversation about the war is over. This war has just begun my friends. Sony proved that cutting price and pushing the system in new ways, not only turned them around but got them back in the race. Same will happen with Xbox, they have the money and room to do so. Sony PS3 at launch was losing money, XBox One is making money at 500$. If they cut price in the fall, they will lose for only a short period of time. Most will be made back in XBOX live account memberships or games. So if XBox is desperate, so is Sony. No clear winner until years from now. |
The PS3 was 80k without Europe Lol it's biggest market, while the X1 is doing sub 60k without japan where it will struggle to reach 1.5mill, yeah the situation is very similar mouahahahahaha

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Point being, anything can happen. It's all up in the air. I think the price has to match that of Sony. So $100 price cut in the fall. I'm calling it.

Lol, sorry but that argument is weak. Look at the sales of Halo 4 and Gears 3, of its 9 million sales Halo 4 got 7 million in NA and the UK according to Vgchartz, Gears is similar, of 6 million sales it got 4.5 million in NA and the UK, those games were no game changers for the 360 in continental Europe and they won't be for the X1. And adding Titanfall into the mix won't change that, especially since it's also available on PC and you still have an extremely strong PC market in Europe. If MS opened Europes minds with the 360, which they did with a ton of help from a Sony who fucked up everything they could if I might add that, then they're closing it again fast with the X1. |
We're not disagreeing on the assessment of sales but rather the portioning of (Europe including the UK) and their susceptibility of buying major exclusives coupled with exclusives. Not a very weak argument when 75% of what we're talking about is agreement from your statement. At this point MS is slowly changing their image.
"passionate fanboy" logic:
there must always be at least one DOOMED system, if not two
otherwise my favorite system isn't doing well because you know, we can't all just thrive and be gamers and enjoy what the gaming industry has to offer, that'd be way too simple and there wouldn't be enough contention
