Will Nintendo get more paid online services in the near future?

With Nintendo clearly going for DLC and even Free to Play games now (if I'm right Nintendo Pocket Football Club is going to be F2P) they might even go for paid online services soon. Practically this has already started with Pokemon Bank, but will it expand to paid online gaming like Xbox Live Gold?

I'm pretty sure they've said somewhere, sometime that this is not their cup of tea but they spoke the same way about DLC before. And to be honest with the Wii U failing quite a bit in sales I'm sure Nintendo want to make more use of the customers they have right now. I don't think they'll have paid online gaming for this gen, maybe next, but I'm sure they'll find a way to sneak other paid services with new games as they did with Pokemon X/Y.

I hope not, I hate paid online services reguardless of what goodies they offer

Nintendo will never implement a mandatory paid online system like PSN/XBL (imo)

Probably. They will likely start small like Sony did with PS+
I don't see full online multiplayer behind a paywall anytime soon though because it would piss off more people than actually use them.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I'd like them to, but the WiiU isn't really designed for a PS+ type service because you have to plug in an external to get a decent amount of HDD space and as far as I am aware they still don't have account based DRM but rather hardware based DRM? I might be wrong on that.

Personally what I would like to see is more (any?) Wii HD collections. Like Mario Galaxy 1+2 or the Metriod Prime Trilogy in 720p. Heck even Gamecube collections or retro collections. Nintendo have a great legacy of games, they are just terrible for sitting on them and doing nothing with them, even during game droughts.

Hopefully not.

First off, I don't see any value in Nintendo's online services. They sure add some nice features, but they are not worth paying for. It'd be a different story if Nintendo's online structure was able to reach Xbox live or PS+.

Second is that I hate paying for online features such as gaming. Some people may enjoy getting a free game from PS+, but I just want to have a little bit of fun with Mario Kart, SSB, MGO etc. and I should be able to do that without having to pay a monthly fee.

No, plus NN isn't good enough to pay for.

Probably not with the WiiU. They might need to do it for their next console though.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

If it's cheap and helps to pay for dedicated servers for online multiplayer then i'd pay it.

Fully agree on the HD collections and Ninty sitting on them doing nothing. Look at Windwaker HD, it took 6 months to make and has raked in over a million in sales..easy money. I would gladly pay for HD updates of Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Wave race Blue Storm etc
