Forums - Nintendo - The Wii U has worse 3rd party support than the N64 did!

And people keep claiming Wii U will be "supported" 4-5 years more.
2016 at latest the new console.

Yeah, but I'd say 2017 at the very least. It's really a shame since there are many good third party games out there on Wii U.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Is Rare's games included as 3rd party, or are they concidered 1st party? Because their games sold quite a bit in the N64 era, with Goldeneye, Banjo etc. I'm going to assume that it is included as 3rd party, but they make a difference if they aren't.

But in all seriouness, are you sure that all those games sold 1 mil in the first 2 years? Where you got that data?

And rigth now, wiiu has a better attach rate than 3DS.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Wow, that's really bad but almost every third party game sells badly on the WiiU so its not surprising.

Monter Hunter 3 Ultimate is also close to half a million. And it's published by Capcom, even though vgchartz keeps insisting it's a Nintendo game.

What, no fanfic? :(

I just did the Most Wanted feature today. If you want to read nonsensical dribbling, give that a shot.

The million seller comparison is a little bit unfair, not all of them were million sellers within 15 months after N64's/GC's/Wii's launch.

But yes, not many of the already released Wii U third party titles will be million sellers in the future.

The N64 received a good selection of exclusive 3rd party software throughout its lifespan. Acclaim, Midway, LucasArts, THQ and EA provided lots of games, but sadly Japanese developers just didn't care.

I would hope so. Handhelds always have very poor attach rates in comparison to home consoles.

I read on IGN that the 3DS has the lowest attach rate of all Nintendo handhelds, while the Wii U has one of the highest of their home consoles. I don't have the link though.
