You do realize this financial practices been done plenty of time before, for example Metro: Last Light. Beside, if this game become a success, then this could be a huge profit for the Naughty Dog Vet. company Big Red Button off the ground ro developed more games.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Metro was made on a shoestring budget by a bunch of guys freezing their asses off in some shack in Ukraine, while Big Red Button is based in expensive ass California. If there's a similarity there, I don't see it.

Even Nintendo can't make huge profit on Wii U games, so I really doubt that anyone working for a third party publisher is going to. After five years in business with no games shipped, BRB will do well if they're able to keep the lights on and don't go the way of Dontnod after this.

Really depends on how much hype the new TV show creates. Sonic X was decently big on the saturday-morning cartoon circuit, and Sega really didn't parlay that into any game tie-in at the time, so it's hard to tell what this game can really do as a direct tie-in.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

That's huge for a Sonic game I think. Lost World sold pretty bad, they are expecting too much.

Incoming flop. I do not see it profiting

Incoming profit, i do see it profiting :p

1m sold or so at full price? After the previous flop?

Flop is really such an overused word. Anyway yes there is always a possibility, but then again it may not. Dont be so sure. Quickly calling it a flop cuz of SLW has sold terrible doesn't mean much. There is both a WiiU+3DS version coming out (yes i kno SLW had both too). Also we do not kno how much of an impact the marketing will help out for this game. Look at Yokai Watch for example.

hopefully this silences people who feel that out of control budgets are only reserved for the PS360 new variants. 20 million for a Sonic game is quite expensive (to a new studio no less) and there is no way Sega (or Nintendo since they paid for the exclusive rights) will get their money back (initial investment and any ROI), Bayonetta 2 will be the next in line.

its going to be funny if sega/nintendo gets their money back and more

I hope they got a lot of BANG for the buck.

There won't be a breaking even with this game, that's for sure. It'll either fall flat out of the gate or end up being helped out a lot by the TV show and potential good reviews. This is a mixed bag.

Seems like a bad move putting so much money into a dead franchise.

lost world didn't sell badly and will leg out even more. sonic sells with legs.

$20M is the cost of a mid tier game if i'm not mistaken.
