Forums - Sony - So, PS4 didn't move consoles in its Japan launch

322,000 units in 2 days

Digital sales 94 100.00%

Total:94

Two things

322k is still impressive for first week. Just like Wii U and Vita numbers. it is the trend that comes after.

Some people have unrealistic expectations that the rebirth of console gaming will happen because of PS4. It will do well, I think easily above 10 million in the long run, but 20 million, is wishful thinking as of right now.

(Trends can change, so my statement is relevant to the Market Today!)

Sony met their fiscal target 7 weeks early without Japan. It is the fastest selling console without Japan. They are on track to hit 7 Million by APR 1st.

I never expected PS2 numbers as those days are gone. The goal is surpassing the PS3 and aiming for the PS1 as that would mean over 50% of the market based on my expectations overall.

Wow, I'm surprised Vita sold that much.
Even if the PS4 does average in Japan, it will still do better everywhere else so its alright.

I dont get this thread.

Are you mocking people who are saying the PS4 will outsell Wii in Japan, or the people who are saying it will outsell PS2 in Japan?

Who said it will outsell PS2 in Japan? I think most people are just hoping it matches or slightly exceed the PS3 in Japan...

Im guessing that Japan = World now

No home console can replicate what the PS2 did. Not even the Wii could do it.

Vita and Wii U both launched during the holidays, the PS4 managed better numbers in the middle of February, it's a good launch. Not record-breaking or anything, but still good. 3DS released in February, so it's a better comparison.

And now I'm curious, how much did the 3DS sell on its launch week in Japan?

If Sony fans think UK = the world, then I see no problems here.

I changed the thread title to include the fact that we're talking about Japan here.
