I think there is a higher chance of Metroid U being announced only based on the fact that the wiiU needs gamez to be successful

while I would like a sidescrolling metroid with awesome 3D effects I'm playing metroid prime hunters right now and man I'm loving it. so anything it's fine for me

I think truly 2.5 D (the style of, i think, Shadow Complex?) would be best. Other M had that in some segments where the camera panned more sideways, and it gives you more freedom to engage enemies and would make use of the 3D on the 3DS. A toned-down version of Other M's aim assist would work too, so you still get to choose whether you want to shoot up, down, horizontal, or diagonal, but you don't have to worry about being misaligned in the Z-dimension.

In conclusion, don't make it like Other M and everyone will be happy. It's not like they have to make it like Other M since the game bombed sales-wise and  the fan reception wasn't too good either.

I think you're confusing "prediction" with "wish". What we want and what we expect don't usually line up (especially when it comes to Nintendo).

EDIT:  Buuut, the more I think about it the more it seems that a prediction doesn't necessarily have to be based on any sort of evidence, so carry on.  ;)  (And I really really hope you're right!!!)
