Again, i'm saying aside from all that. The game is short, but it is short in a way that is purely Metroid, much like Fusion. It's a hard sell to do such a short game anymore.

I dunno, I think a game of that length could still be sold if it was very well done.

I'm saying a shorter game with emphasis on replayability like Metroid would definitely be a better fit for handhelds. In terms of sales potential (remember, Metroid caps out at about 3 million at the best of times), of length, and of development expense, 3DS is the better choice.

Wii U needs that kind of game to boost its idling sales though, while 3DS is doing fine.

Na man it'll be for Wii U. Unless they're ready to give up on the system, why wouldn't they give it a big and popular shooter during its time of need?

Metroid 3DS

- 2D-3D mix a la Other M but more similar to Super Metroid

- Espiritual succesor for Super Metroid

- One of the most beautiful 3DS games

- No sprites, therefore, whining in the forums

- Directed by Sakamoto

- No Adam, no companions, no characters. Only Samus around exploring

- Release date 2015

Metroid 3DS

- 2D Metroid like Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion, but with 3D models and invironments.

- Sequel to Metroid Fusion

- Average looking 3DS game

- People won't care about there not being sprites

- (Vomits) Let's all remember that he is what ruined Other M. Not Ninja Theory. Very likely, however unfortunate.

- Hearsay

- Release date 2014

Pretty much my thoughts.

I hope so! I'll definitely buy a 3DS if they bring back a Super Metroid styled game. I don't usually replay to many games but I've probably played and beaten Super Metroid 4-5 times. I loved it.

Sounds great! Directed by Sakamoto though...

The guy is bit of lost cause, recently. “It is quite obvious why Other M did not succeed when compared to other Nintendo games; it features a female main character,” says Sakamoto, “Mario, Link, Kirby. Those are all male Nintendo characters that never fail to generate good sales.”

“It’s not just about the sales either,” adds Sakamoto, “The game as a whole was received fairly poorly compared to other hit Nintendo titles. I personally wrote the story for the game so I know it can’t be that. I mean, I created a strong, female character that people just could not accept. I apologize if gamers feel like they were emasculated playing the game, but that shouldn’t affect your judgment of everything else.”

Sakamoto never said that. I was a joke article.

Nope, it'll be a prime for the Wii U.

The part of me that wants to see Metroid go in a different direction dislikes that, but another part of me would really like to see what the Wii U hardware could do with a Prime-esque game (would also work well with the gamepad too, for scans).

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

A metroid on the Wii U would be so much different it could say it's a new direction if into consideration the power difference between the Wii and the U. It would definitely move more consoles too.

And they could always make one for the 3ds. 3ds' games don't take long and they aren't as expensive as other games to make.

I've thought for a while now that a Metroid 3DS announcement had to be coming this year. E3 makes sense. I mean...3DS is just about "tapped out" as far as Nintendo's own franchises are concerned. There's only so many more "active" franchises they can announce for 3DS...Metroid is one of the few remaining.
