Sub 1080p games don't impress anymore

I disagree, I found Ryse's visuals very impressive at 900p, for instance, and Trine 2 Director's Cut at 720p is still the prettiest game I've ever seen. (Yes, I'm aware it runs higher on PC and PS4, but I haven't seen those with my own eyes)

I find Ryse looking very soft, like an upscaled dvd. Upscaled to 1080p it doesn't look very good to me, for example

Prettiest game atm for me is Windwaker HD, KZ SF and AC4 are impressive as well.
Trine 2 demo looks great on ps4, but I don't like the backlit art style.

I think Ryse intentionally has a film-like look, that I personally find appealling. (Even if the game itself is utter shite)
The art is actually what  makes Trine 2 so stunning to me, I love its lush, fairytale look, even at 720p. (Good AA helps)

So, if this guy can be trusted, (I'm taking it with a huge grain of salt) Witcher 3 will join Battlefield in the "sub-1080p PS4 games" club?

I wish all PS4 games will be sub-1080p. Because the console doesn't have enough horsepower to impress me at this resolution.

Agreed, personally I'd gladly trade pixels for 60 fps.

Its funny, people hate last gen resolution but are happy with last gen frame rate.

I'm surprised people still treat this as news... or maybe its an opportunity to make the same bad jokes over and over again.

As someone who is still pretty content with 7th gen graphics, I'll be happy with the X1 ports.

Part of it is certainly having to do with PS fans going "haha look, another game that runs/looks better on my console of choice!" no doubt about it.

But I still think it's worth posting news about the differences between the different versions of the games. Although more worthwhile when we have a technical analysis to go along with them.

In the end it's a gaming site. PS fans will post good news for Sony, MS fans will post good news for MS. They will also both post bad news for the other side. It's not the most....dignified way of handiling things, but we all do it.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Depends on what film look you like. I like sharp crips visuals, best filmed on 70mm with large depth of field.
Trine's glowing visuals are not my personal favorite, the game itself didn't hold my attention either, I still haven't finished PS3 Trine 2.
However Flower on PS4 made my jaw hit the floor, that is an amazing upgrade for free. Replayed it again twice.

PS3 Trine 2 is the worst looking version; lower quality AA smooths over fine details and gives the overall image a blurry feel.

Tell me, were you surprised when people were still doing it over much smaller differences between 360 and PS3 games, half a decade in to their lifetimes?

I never cared, I don't know anyone that was doing it on VGChartz though so........

Yeah, the upgrade to ps4 was very impressive. Still didn't make me like the art style though.
Flower's upgrade impressed me even more.

If you play Witcher 3 on anything but PC you're doing it wrong.

Same can be said about Titanfall.   :)

It could be, but one wonder's why you'd bring it up in a thread that has nothing too do with Titanfall?

It also ignores the entirely different nature of the games, given one relies on a well-established multiplayer gaming network, and the other is single player.

wow, Starcraft a little late to the party don't ya think?   It was a comment for Ben because I knew he was buying TF on PC even though the X1 version still plays well. He wants the best performance of that game which ties into his comment about the Witcher 3 as well. Whether a game is multiplayer or single player is irrelevant, the pc version will look the best of either. One wonders why you would specifically single my comment out as being off topic when Ben's PC comment was the source of it and had nothing to do with either the PS4 or X1 versions. If one is unable to write the word "Titanfall" in a thread without making an Xbox fan uncomfortable, then maybe it's time you rethink your console warz thought process.  Regardless, the conversation between Ben and myself concluded hours ago.  Good day to you...

I am aware of no party - and have yet to read the vast majority of this thread.  I opened it, read the OP, and there was your comment barely a couple of posts down

Touchy touchy

Discussing the differences and having preference is all fine and dandy. But the gloating is ridiculous, I didn't really take much part in it last gen either.
