Forums - Gaming - Watch Dogs & The Witcher 3: Resolutions On Xbox One vs PS4 Leaked: "900p vs 1080p & 720p vs 900p (Confident on 1080p PS4)

kinda old now but still nice to see in the headlines this type of news will only help PS4 sales XB1 needs to cut the price by 200 if they want to tackle the ps4 in the sales war. once BF and COD came out i knew it was over same as last gen with the ps3, ps3 fans thought it would be able to recover with the 3rd parties we saw how that turn out

i really hope that devs will continue to have this freedom though i dont want to see PS4 games being forced to run at a lower resolution and rate in the future

what interests me is where will the devs give the PS4 an advantage? FrameRate? resulotion? in game effects and graphics? and it will be interesting to see if this effects sales or not. it seems devs are going for Res now, i wonder if that will change.

Indeed.  Resolution is really the easiest thing, as everything else stays the same.

Tweaking FX or lighting models, or raycasting audio can be qualitative differences.

There's plenty of other uses for GPGPU as well, but applications that affect gameplay mechanics are unlikely to show up in x-platforms.

Wow @Witcher 3 if true! Will be awesome to play in full HD

It would be, but it's at 30FPS/900p on PS4.

PC's the platform for TW3.

Hmm, in that case the title was inaccurate.

Unfortunate.  The game will be shit now, you should specifically avoid playing it - in protest.

If you play Witcher 3 on anything but PC you're doing it wrong.

Same can be said about Titanfall.   :)

It could be, but one wonder's why you'd bring it up in a thread that has nothing too do with Titanfall?

It also ignores the entirely different nature of the games, given one relies on a well-established multiplayer gaming network, and the other is single player.

So, if this guy can be trusted, (I'm taking it with a huge grain of salt) Witcher 3 will join Battlefield in the "sub-1080p PS4 games" club?

If you ignore the part about them working on 1080p and that being a very realistic possibility, yes.

I wish all PS4 games will be sub-1080p. Because the console doesn't have enough horsepower to impress me at this resolution.

I'd take better materials and effects at 900p over worse ones at 1080p any day of the week.

Why are these threats still around, it doesn't matter whether one version of the game is inferior to another so long as they play just fine and look up to par.

It would be nice for witcher 3 to achieve 1080p, but the game looks pretty great regardless. As for watchdogs, I'm less concerned about its resolution as I am about the game itself. I just hope ubi makes a good game, 1080p would just be icing.... Both games seem pretty close on both platforms too.
