Don't forget to post your impressions. Glad you didn't get shitty games like Landguy. That guy....

*shakes fist*

I was going to make a thread about it tomorrow. I did not spend but a couple of hours with it last night (and 90% of that updating the system) so far I have updated it and watched stuff off Hulu Plus. I have not played a game yet.

Idk if I will ever get used to Circle (A) for enter and Cross (B) for back. Its the opposite on Playstation and I have been in the Playstation ecosystem for 12 years almost exclusively (also PC games work the same way as Playstation)

You'll get used to it.  After a generation of getting used to the Xbox 360 layout and forgetting the backwards Nintendo layout (Wii Remote for the win), I was hitting the wrong button every time.  Took me a while to get back in the groove.  It's second nature now.  I'm sure you'll like the analog placement too.

Can you go from the Nintendo layout to the Playstation/Xbox layout at will or do you mess up sometimes?

LOL does it make me a Sony traitor?

Yeah it does. : P

NOOOOOOO!!!!! Sony won't let me play my preordered copy of Infamous next month! What have I done?! lol

3DS is one thing but getting a Wii U? I think you're going to have to hand in your Sony card sir. * takes out pair of scissors*

Anything but that! Can I atleast use my points first? (I should have millions XD)

I have the Zelda bunde also. Windwaker is really a great game. Pikmin 3 and 3D World are also great games too. I would also definitely recommend you pick up Wonderful 101. Probably the best or 2nd best game on the Wii U right now in my opinion.

To answer the controller question. If you plan on buying any 3rd party games, most of them don't support the Wiimotes. But I think for now you should get a Wiimote and a numchuck. Since the numchucks makes the games so much easier to play, especially 3D world(which is a great 2 player game). Plus it sounds like you want to get some Wii games too.
Which this is the numchuck

So back to the 3rd party topic. All of them support the gamepad. But if you want to play 2 player not all of them will support the Wii mote so you may need a pro-controller. Just look on the back of the box and it'll tell you.

I think this is the classic controler that everyone is talking about. But it needs to be plug into the Wiimote since it needs a power source.

I am sorry if I am just being dumb but if I got the Wiimote and plugged a classic controller into it I would be able to play New Super Mario Bros U? I am just trying to figure out if a Wiimote Plus and a Wii Classic Controller can completely replace a Wii U Pro Controller because if it can that is what makes sense for me.

I'm not sure if it does or doesn't since I don't own the controller or the game.

Guess I will find out tonight. Me and my GF are going to my GF's brothers house (and bringing our PS4s and Wii U) they have a Wii and all the controllers for it so I will see what works and what does not. My GFs brother has an Xbox One, we are in for one heck of a night of gaming XD

3D World is awesome. I've been having a blast playing it with my room mate and others at university.

I want to say yeah but it's not always the case.  I replayed Tomb Raider on the 360 and died several times because they ask me to press "Y" at a moments notice and my mind sometimes reverts to  Nintendo mode. That split second can be deadly!  I was always able to jump between Playstation and Xbox because they had different button names.  You shouldn't have much of a problem outside of the "confirm/go back" function in most games.

Why would he need wiimotes?

Just a friendly question.

Well if he never owned a Wii, Wii U is 100% backwards compatible, and there's a lot of great games he missed out on if he never played it.

There's the only really good reason to give.

"X" on Xbox always makes me mess up when I play on a friend's Xbox. I should be fine besides that on the Wii U.

If you don't mind buying refurbished stuff, Nintendo sells refurb bundles of its Wii Remote & Nunchuks for $20 each. Pretty good deal, I've bought 2 of these myself and they look & function like a brand new controller.

That is very interesting. I would not buy a refurb controller for my primary console but I will heavily consider it for my secondary console (especially when it comes with a warranty and is 50% off)
