I want to buy a 2nd controller today or tomorrow (so me and my GF can play together) what controller do you guys recommend I get (you are answering someone who skipped the Wii generation)

I am basically asking
http://www.gamestop.com/wii/accessories/wii-classic-controller-pro-black/77243

http://www.gamestop.com/wii-u/accessories/wii-u-pro-controller-black/104811

http://www.gamestop.com/accessories/wii-u-remote-plus-black/84673

What do I need?

First, congrats on getting a new system! Opening up a new system for the first time...it's the best feeling. Makes you feel like a kid again

Second, I would recommend getting at least one Wii Remote Plus/nunchuk combo for local multiplayer with your girlfriend (and other friends) and also to take advantage of the original Wii library. I'd also recommend a Pro Controller for future games like Smash Bros. and Mario Kart.

Have fun with it!

Do you buy the Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk seperatly or is there cheaper bundles?

I'm not sure if there are remotes and nunchuks bundled together. You can get both for around $55. Pricey, I know, but that's the reality for video game controllers unfortunately.

There ARE games bundled with Wii remotes, for example: http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Land-Luigi-Remote-Controller-u/dp/B00GGGOO9A/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1392653411&sr=8-5&keywords=wii+remote+plus+mario

I am going to look for a white/black one bundled with a game lol. That green would drive me nuts.

and trust me I know controllers are expensive

Why would he need wiimotes?

Just a friendly question.

I will get them eventually because there are a limited number of Wii games I want to play but at the time being that is not a huge factor. I want to play Super Mario 3D World and New Super Mario Bros U (when I get it) with my GF

Will they badger me? (spam emails etc.) I did not sign up for it last night for that reason

Well, not many Wii games had mandatory motion control. Unless you want Skyward sword or wii sports series, which I do recommend everything i just listed, but that and a select few others were only ones that needed the mandatory motion control.

Most worked fine with regular controllers.

Would these be fine for a Wii U? (Does it work where a Wii U pro controller would?)

Or should I break down and buy a Wii U Pro controller

http://www.gamestop.com/wii-u/accessories/wii-u-pro-controller-black/104811

Upon looking at the pro controller I do not think I would like the stick layout (360 and Xbox One controller does not bother me for the record)
