Forums - Gaming - Will Microsoft Leave The Video Game Market If PS4 Takes Most of the Marketshare?

Im not talking like end of this gen ps4=100mil, X1=70mil. Im talking like 100mil-120mil ps4 and 40-50mil X1!

TBH, i think it wont be that far apart and its too early to tell, but after seeing ps4 dominating in US, M$ best region (by far) it got me thinking!

Yes i kno there is room for price cuts, games, etc but this is just a question, pls dont make this bigger than it should be!

The only reason it's dominating is because of the price differance. It x1 was the same price it would beat sony in the US, not world wide but in the us for sure. And that alone would keep the x1 competitive.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

No cause MS is too rich

Plus the original Xbox sold like what? 21 million vs the ps2's over 150 million (too lazy to check) and they didn't leave so I highly doubt it

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Even if this turn out real the Xbox One would still be profitable with those numbers.
Also Sony with the ps4 number will prove that console market is still growing.
So no.

No..if MS is making a profit they wont leave the video game market.

No, MS will leave if there's no longer a strategic justification for staying. It's not going to throw it's toys out of the cot just because Sony sells more units, even if by a wide margin.

Only way MS leaves console market is if they dont turn a profit on the X1, but to those that say the ps4 is selling more due to price, well your right as of now, but if the ps4 gets into keep getting into the hands of more people it could have a snowball effect, more people who have it the more thier friends will pick the ps4 over x1 and so on. we saw that on the last gen with the 360 what stopped the snowball was when the ps3 got extremely competitive but also keep in mind PSN was free at that time. not sure how many will wanna pay for both live and psn each year.

Of course not. How asinine. The amount of money MS makes off of things like Xbox Live is enough to keep them in the market for awhile.

Microsoft has solidified its brand in the gaming industry for the time being and they are going to keep staying here because it is a viable market for them. Even in the event of a large defeat to Sony this generation (which still shows no indication of ending up that way) they would simply re-up and try again for the ninth generation. Not like they can't afford to do it. Remember of all 3 companies, MS is easily the most financially sound right now.

Obviously not. The Xbox brand is very powerful and relevant still. Nintendo got rattled with N64 and GC, but stayed in the game so yeah MS is not going anywhere.
