Forums - Gaming - Will Microsoft Leave The Video Game Market If PS4 Takes Most of the Marketshare?

40-50 million aint bad, doubt MS will leave so get used to the evil and greed.

Which third party would announce a major game is NOT coming to the Xbox One, even if sales are 3:1?

There's no danger of failure.

LOL no ...

Microsoft has a shit ton of money to last atleast 50 or so more years.

we are talking about 1 division not the entire company.

No cause MS is too rich

Plus the original Xbox sold like what? 21 million vs the ps2's over 150 million (too lazy to check) and they didn't leave so I highly doubt it

I think they made the bet starting relatively late in that gen to give their big strike with the 360 on the next one, like the 1-2 combo being the original xbox the jab

With the 360 they even tried to steal japan at first from the ps3 and they could have killed it if it wasnt for Sony lifting in mid generation

I do not think they will leave the market if the xbone does not beat the ps4, but there is a possibility that with some conditions , lack of profit or a big defeat, they might withdraw

Even if they do poorly their still likely gonna want to compete. If they have to keep taking losses in the game division to keep waving that dick then they'll still likely do it because microsoft seems reluctant to drop their game division.

Im not talking like end of this gen ps4=100mil, X1=70mil. Im talking like 100mil-120mil ps4 and 40-50mil X1!

TBH, i think it wont be that far apart and its too early to tell, but after seeing ps4 dominating in US, M$ best region (by far) it got me thinking!

Yes i kno there is room for price cuts, games, etc but this is just a question, pls dont make this bigger than it should be!

Microsoft doesnt care about maerketshare, they care about profit.  So as long as xbox remains profitable or at the very least break even, I dont see microsoft going anywhere anytime soon...

Maybe they just get tired of the console biz and opt to stake their Seattle/Richmond neighbor Nintendo (well NOA) in the future in exchange for Nintendo using Windows OS or something. Microsoft Studios/Rare could operate like a 2nd party providing games like Halo and Killer Instinct (yes please) for Nintendo.

Lets be honest MS is like the rich guy who just starts hitting on the girl you're in love with even though he could have any other girl.

C'mon MS. Sony and Nintendo *need* the game industry, you don't. The profits MS makes from the game business are just gravy for them, they don't give a crap about that.

Contrary to popular belief I actually don't think more competetion is neccessarily better if the end result is that companies like Nintendo and Sega are basically pushed out of the market (or gulp forced into doing things like making products for senior citizens/soccer moms), and consoles are turned into faceless black boxes tied to tons of DLC charges and firmware updates.

Microsoft, as any other company would, seeks profit. Even if Xbox One sells half of PS4 they won't give a damn as long as their product is profitable for them.
