Doesnt look bad at all to me. Worse that last year of course, but last year we got Pokemon and Zelda. I dont think there is anything that can top that. However, we get Mario Golf, Kirby, Yoshis Island, Smash Bros and maybe Pokemon Z or a 3rd Gen Remake and some other stuff. Guess we will have to wait for e3 or future nintendo directs.

Releasing any new core Pokemon title this year wouldn't be a good idea. It would cut off X/Y and syphon attention to the new title. There's most likely no way we'll see even an announcement for a new Pokemon until next year.

This is a good thing, though. Nintendo can't play all their cards. Like they started to do in Holiday 2011.

Well if there is a Pokemon Z AND a 3rd Gen Remake coming to the 3DS, then i dont see how 2015 is release for the first one of them. If only one of them is going to happen then i agree. I cant imagine the second one of them to come out 2016 / 2017 considering the next handheld might be there already or close to release.

The reason why Wii U started bad with "lack of software" was precisely because Nintendo was foscusing it's resources into 3DS since, you know, it also had a rough start. These efforts ultimately proved themselves to be a good decision in the end. Wii U will be more complicated tho, since PS4 is heavy competition even if they don't "compete directly" and the bad reputation the internet in general has given to the console. But who knows, maybe with some luck they will be able to reach more than acceptable sales.
Anyways 3DS has already a pretty strong catalogue by itself. Personally this "drought" is good for me since I'll be able to catch up to all the games I want to buy.

Nintendo needs to make the first big aaa pokemon on Wii U

You mean big releases like Mario golf, Kirby and a new yoshi game?
As well as smash bros later in the year?

Yeah, there is honestly not a single 3DS game I'm looking forward to right now. Not a one. That kinda sucks.

Same here!  I can only hope that E3 brings out some interesting stuff that we get by Christmas.

Of those two, I see the first coming in 2015, the second in 2016.  The next gen handheld will probably not be out by then.  Although even if it is, we all know how Pokemon loves to wait to go onto the new systems.

the ball was dropped long ago.

It is impossible to sustain one system let alone two on your own. They need to expand their studios. Or get 3rd parties onboard for at least the 3DS as Wii U is a lost cause which all have given up on already.

They can still announce stuff at e3 2014, do people honestly believe they have NOTHING for the 2nd half of the year? They could also announce a price drop, they've stayed at the $169.99 for the 3DS and $199.99 for the XL for a while, I'm pretty sure they are selling each 3DS at profit, so they can drop the prices from $169.99 to maybe 119.99$, and the XL to 149.99$ and the 2DS to sub $99.99 and still make profit out of each hardware unit sold. They're expensive, the most expensive handheld offerings from Nintendo ever as their main handheld system, so that could potentially be a factor to its sales. Make them cheap, and we'll see if that'll have an effect.

Do you mean that we know we will get this year or any at all that has been announced at some time (or that we know/have heard is coming)?
