Oh plot twist.

I disagree though. It's similar to the sales situation. Every week when new data comes out we talk about the gap between PS4 and XBONE. Everyone knows there is a gap, but people are interested to see how it's changing.

Graphics are the same thing. They aren't static, but ever changing. If every multiplat was 1080p 60fps on ps4 and 720p 30fps on XBONE then threads by sony fans saying a new game follows the trend would get annoying. That's not happening though. Cod is 720p vs 1080p, AC4 is 900p vs 1080p, BF is 720p vs 900p, and TR is 30fps vs 60fps. The PS4 is better in all cases, but that's really the only similarity. It's the gap that matters, not the leader. That gap is still a very interesting thing to talk about. Both Sony and Microsoft fans make threads about it daily.

There were 2 threads yesterday saying the x1 would catch up, and there are still xbox fans on this site arguing and downplaying the gap. So no.

So you think fighting past fires with more fires, is a good idea, cool.

It's totally fine to do graphics comparisons. Just think about multiplatform gamers. They want to know which Version is the best. Because of that, comparisions are neccesarry.

Just deal with it. Don't read about it if it isn't of interest to you or when you don't like the results or something.

I will never accept the PS4 as the most powerful console

I will do the next three years worth of comparisions for you. PS4 version looks slightly better, PS4 Version looks extremely better, Kojima products ripoffs people but that doesn't matter because the PS4 version looks and runs better. Have fun looking at the differences.

The reason is easy. HUMAN MIND IS VERY GOOD AT DELUDING ITSELF. Even when people know the truth crystal clear, they just prefer to delude themselves for the slightest evidence in their favor. For example, if a user prefers XB1 for one reason or another (which he/she has all the right to), it's a good chance that he/she will take all the evidence or chance in favor of XB1 and dismiss all the evidence to the contrary, creating an illusion of reality, avoiding the actual truth. So there are basically 2 things going on here...

a) Create an illusionary reality, taking the slightest evidence in favor (by exaggeration) and dismissing all other to the contrary, all to avoid the truth that hurts.

b) People are overly optimistic, which is another way of avoiding the truth that hurts (it's like the Ostrich burying their heads under the land to avoid danger). So basically they have high hopes for everything in their favor, but take the porbability close to zero for everything to contrary (like assuming traffic accidents happen only to others!). Also think about the countless amounts of "secret sauce, power of the cloud, balanced machine, false advertisement" etc articles.

Both Machines are based on well known PC tech so there is no hidden power, which is not well documented in there. Everything is comparable. The performance gap comes down to 2 components, RAM and GPU. It's not like the ESRAM in XB1 is unknown, it's been used in all XBoxes so far, it's all well known as well as GDDR5, which is commonly used in PCs. The GPUs are all well known commodities, applying well known technologies produced by the very same company. It's nothing like the previous generation where GPUs and CPUs were vastly different and hardly comparable directly.

Given that everyone knows that PS4 has much faster RAM and more raw performance. However, those are more like the maximum speed, rather than the average speed you get on a car. So that's not exactly what hampers the XB1, it's rather the amount of ESRAM. Depending on the game, that limitation may be alleviated or lifted mostly.

Now when that happens, XB1's potential will mostly be reached to the most extent, but the true power gap (around 40-50%) will still be there. So the gap we see nowadays is much higher than that due to the bottlenecks in XB1. Good news for XB1 owners is that (IF THE ESRAM LIMITATION IS OVERCOME), on third party developers, who usually seek parity, the gap will not be enough to be deal breaker (30 fps vs 40-45 fps for example). On first party titles, however, the gap will be wider! Why?

It then comes down to the APIs. The MS APIs are mostly well known, based on DirectX. On a third party level, those APIs (Open GL and proprietary on Sony's side), won't make much of a difference. But in terms of first party support, they will work in favor of Sony, as the first parties have much greater incentives to employ the proprietary technologies and get the most juice out of the machine as well as access to deeper levels of integration.

It's not that easy. Imagine a game running at 1080p on PS4 but with 30 fps. If the same game runs in 720p but 60 fps on Xbox One, everyone cam decide if they prefer resolution or fps. Then there are things like Anti Aliasing, Tearing and oh so many more. That's why a comparison for every single game makes sense so mutli owners can pick exactly the version they prefer.

If course there will be Fanboy discussions, but if you don't feed the trolls, they'll go away eventually.
