"They are releasing a new SDK that’s much faster and we will be comfortably running at 1080p on Xbox One."

If this is true, resolutiongate was fun while it lasted.

It's FUD,a  new SDK doers not over come a 40-50% GPU compute advantage. He also acts like ps4 does not do media, the only diff between the two is hdmi-in port.

Ps4 tools will also improve as will OS overhead.

OT: This is all stuff we already knew, pretty much. Except for the new SDK...

What's an SDK? >_>

SDK - Software Development Kit

It's like the Operating System and Tools you use to write games.  Every time they update it, you have to test your developing game and might need to make a few changes.  It can be very good – things run exponentially faster, or bad things crash.  (Like putting a train on new tracks – it might run faster, but you want to make sure it doesn’t fall off.)

One of the things developers really liked last gen of the 360 over the PS3 was the software tools Microsoft game them.  I forget who said it but one developer said, "It was delivered on Angle Wings" or something like that.  He really liked the MS tools for checking code errors (bugs) on the Xbox 360.

The only thing that seems a bit odd, is the Xbox One uses less of the RAM than the PS4's.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

There will always be sacrifices because of hardware limitations. The Order is 1080p @30fps. If Ready at Dawn could get the game to perform at 1080p @60fps without sacrificing their over all vision for the game they would. They had to coompromise somewhere and they decided fps was the most acceptable compromise.

I think it's pretty clear that hardware on both consoles isn't capable of 1080p @60fps on any and all games. Some games will hit that mark by having less going on on screen. But I think many developers would rather sacrifice one of those parameters for elements they consider to be more important, like Team Ninja's soft body physics, aka more lifelike boobies.

I believe it's not correct to afirm that a hardware isn't capable of 1080p @60fps. PS3 is. 360 is. All PS360 games could be 1080p @60fps if devs wanted. Each dev decides if the ammount of detail and graphical fidelity is more important than resolution or fps. And while the Internet really looks like a big fan of the 60fps thing, the majority of the gamers probably don't know if a game is 30 or 60fps and maybe even know that there are these options. So running for 60fps in the end will only result in your public saying your game looks bad compared to a competitor that went for 30 fps. 1080p probably will be more common, since sub-1080p resolutions result in visibly blurried visuals on 1080p TV sets.

This idea that you need "X" amount of power to achieve 1080 is ridiculous. Obviously people know nothing about game development. 1080 can be achieved on older consoles if devs wanted to. It all depends on the amount of effects they want to output, the quality of the textures, the frame rate, the amout of particles, the scale of one level etc etc. When a game is not 1080p it's all devs choice more than hardware fault. It's always a decision they take.

you all miss the keyword "tiling"

And, hopefully, this buzzword is not the next wave of "we found the wholy saviour" threads. It is utterly irrelevant in the discussion.

its not a buzzword it s party explaining why we can expect a huge difference between xbox launchgames and 2nd and 3rd wave of games. Time and stable software/os in the machine will do this.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Nice article however better tools will never make up for the difference in the systems GPUs or memory setup.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Care to explain?

Dream on. And why do you think tiling is something "critical" for the XBox One, but not for the PS4?

Where do I mention the ps4 can't? you people look only in the one vs 4 debate, which is scewed out by now

im looking at the launch games vs 2nd and 3 wave games

yes, probably not in the case of the one vs the 4, doesn't mean that is true 100% of the time with other hardware

I'm not so sure. I think even if the hardware was more powerful, they'd play around with it, see the extra effects and graphics they could put on screen and their vision would change. I think there are quite a few developers that believe outside of FPS, Racing and Fighting games, 60fps just isn't that important.

Out of interest, do you think it's important outside of those genres?
