Don't see how its worse now than it has been since... well, since he was invented really.

I sure hope you're not talking shit about sonic 1, 2, 3 and knuckles addon for the genesis.

From what we've seen, I just don't see how this so inferior.

Wow.. just wow..

I sense much nostalgia in you... :P

Anyone worth there salt would see that the gameplay in the old 2d platformers is superior to the modern junk, it isnt about nostalgia, its about gameplay.

it would be like nintendo releasing a mario first person shooter.

The old 2D Sonics had just as many problems as a lot of the newer ones; when you were going fast, it was more a movie than a game, and when you weren't the platforming was twitchy. Don't get me wrong, they were fun, but they weren't any better than Colours or Generations, and I don't see anything about Boom that suggests it's guaranteed to be inferior.

I don't see anything about Boom that suggests it's guaranteed to be inferior.

This^ People need to calm down, its being developed by someone new (and knows wat they are doing). The gameplay gives me great hope for a great Sonic game. Not saying it wont be bad, but to say its not good for no reason? Anywayz here is hopingSonic can spark back into top tier!

Imagine if this game is highly praised? Regular sega team will be pleased or pissed? (cuz finallly somebody made a great game :P)

Might have something to do with the lack of any actual gameplay, and because of that fact, while you dont see anything to suggest its inferior, you also dont see anything to suggest it isnt.

There is gameplay, and it shows some promising signs, like an open world in one scene.

Interview:
http://www.gonintendo.com/s/221919-sega-talks-sonic-boom-being-for-western-audiences-no-plans-for-japanese-release-sonic-team-will-make-more-sonic-games

- "We took the best of what we know from those games [Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank] and applied it to what works for Sonic canon"

- "It was important to make sure that it feels like a Sonic game."

- "Speed is an important aspect of it, but exploration, combat and the strong narrative of the storyline are very big aspects of the game, more so than I would say in the past."

Also, that part of the TV trailer where Eggman says ''It's not egghead, my name is Eggman!''... MAJOR FACEPALM. His name is ROBOTNIK.

Was he called Eggman in the US or what? I stopped console gaming with the Megadrive and when I returned with the Wii and I see his name change, it always puzzled me.

@ Shadow1980: Nope, http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6042643

He was always Eggman in Japan. The Western name was Dr Robotnik. Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast bridged the difference in the West where he starts as Dr Robotnik, but then Sonic calls him Eggman/"A giant talking egg" etc. And it stuck as Eggman globally from then on.

But it sounds so childish. Thanks for that localisation background.

Thanks for posting  the link! I always enjoy watching their analyses! They are so well-done and they seem to  find  most if not all the important aspects!
