Forums - Sony - “PlayStation Now is a joke,” says Pachter

PS Now has been branded “a joke” by Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter.

It follows leaked footage Sony’s PS3 cloud-streaming beta, which showed a user loading up PS Now and playing Killzone 3 over the cloud.

Speaking with Game Informer, Pachter said of PS Now, “PlayStation Now is a joke. There is no publisher that is going to license content that’s less than two-years old because they would be concerned that they can’t sell as many copies if they make it available for subscription or rental.

“This has no prayer of working. None.”

Pachter’s rationale is that publishers will not license their game for monthly streaming as it will dent their ‘per-unit’ sales, along the same lines as bands on Spotify.

What do you make of Pachter’s reaction?

He just forget Sony already to that with PS+... so publishers are not allowing that for big titles like DmC, BioShock Infinte, Red Dead Redemption, etc.

All big players are on side of Sony right now.

Lol. Patcher said, next gen games will be running at 240 frames per second. He said he heard it from a developer. So, ps now is great. Because patcher always talks opposite.

Netflix will never work either, that would be stupid, wich publisher would give away his shows for subscription or rental ?

"Pachter is a joke", I say.

So PS Now is the best shiz ever then?

Ugh.. Why are we giving this joker ( calling Pachter a joker is  offensive to the real Joker) failed analyst more attention than he deserves ( which is none)? I can already see him talk positively about the PS Now in a few months.

I thought playing older games was the whole point. Classic games from the PS1 to PS3 era.

Playstation Now is a serious confirmed.

Patch is dissinformed here since PS Now will not stream PS4 games (at least until the gen ends) but the giant PS1/2/3 and PSP library which would be "old" anyway when the service launches.

I don´t know why any one would pay to play 3 or 4 years old games with no performance/IQ improvements and with risk of latency, pkg dropping and compression artfacts.
