Forums - Sony - “PlayStation Now is a joke,” says Pachter

Just for reference sake though, I was watched a CNBC special on Netflix, and Pacther also labelled that as something that was doomed to failure.

I can understand that publishers want to reap the benefits of their per unit sales for a certain window. However by adding their games to PlayStation Now in the future (maybe 1-2 years) they can get another cut while leaving their units on the market. This invites in new customers who may purchase their next game if it is a series, and gives them some revenue they may have not gotten before.

That's the entire concept of PS Plus.

What an idiot, maybe you wont get 2 year old games but there is almost 20 years of PS gaming. Its a joke if its super expensive or the lag/connection sucks but we barely know the details on those issues.

This sums up my thoughts.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

In other news, Pachter inserts bananas in his bum!!!!!

Netflix will never work either, that would be stupid, wich publisher would give away his shows for subscription or rental ?

"Pachter is a joke", I say.

You do realize that studios have forced Netflix into delaying their release of current movies so that they can reap the benefits of greater physical disc sales.

You undermine your own argument with your example.

Smart man. The cloud is shit, just like M$es cloud. The more we stay physical the better. The cloud is a fuck you to the third world with slow internet.

They don't have to "force" anyone. They're the one handing the rights to their material to Netflix. All they have to do is not give the rights until they're ok with it. ¬_¬

Big difference is actually streaming a game to you and claiming the cloud can improve graphics. Game streaming works fine from my experience.

Also like it or not "the cloud" is the future

PS Now has been branded “a joke” by Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter.

It follows leaked footage Sony’s PS3 cloud-streaming beta, which showed a user loading up PS Now and playing Killzone 3 over the cloud.

Speaking with Game Informer, Pachter said of PS Now, “PlayStation Now is a joke. There is no publisher that is going to license content that’s less than two-years old because they would be concerned that they can’t sell as many copies if they make it available for subscription or rental.

“This has no prayer of working. None.”

Pachter’s rationale is that publishers will not license their game for monthly streaming as it will dent their ‘per-unit’ sales, along the same lines as bands on Spotify.

What do you make of Pachter’s reaction?

wow what a fool
