I think we need to look to Netflix for how PS Now may operate, and I don't think that Patcher is that far off the mark. With Netflix you almost never get 'new' movies, so I agree that we won't be seeing "GTA 6" launching for streaming same day as launch.

But, as others have pointed out, PS Now is more or less going to support older games, which is where Netflix shines with movies/tv shows. On your PS3/4 you'll be able to have an entire series instantly at your fingertips.

On Netflix people can binge on 7 seasons on The Office all at once, and with PS Now people will be able to binge on the Metal Gear Solid series all at once.

I'm pretty sure the PS4 can emulate a PSX game or a PS2 game even, if Sony tried. The cloud is a way for them to be lazy and draw more money.

PSNow will be far more work than making an emulator on the PS4. You are correct though Sony wants money. Nobody is going to buy a PS4 because it can play PS1 and PS2 games and why would Sony want to help you play used games? They want you to buy/rent PS1 and PS2 games so them and developers make money. Who knew a corporation wants to make money?

It probably won't have anything but older games for several years for the most part though, that much is certain. It's only going to be a minor side thing at first, it won't start to get big until about 7 years out at the earliest.

he's got something of a point. what is sony's business model? if it starts out only playing ps3 games who's paying for this service? i certainly wouldn't pay much, if at all, for this service.

Pachter never heard of Netflix

It lack all new movies for multiple years, and mainly just has older movies/tv-shows, yet it has a massive subscriber base for the digital streaming only subscription.

As long as Sony prices it right, and the game experience is responsive enough, I think PS Now will be huge (especially since it doesn't require any powerful machine running locally).

Is netflix dead ? If not, I don't see how my argument is valid.

Netflix makes tons of money and I see no reason why psNow wouldn't.

What makes him think this service is designed for new games ???
