Nintendo isn't doing great right now, and Mario Kart Wii sold, like, a zillion copies (or 34 million, if you care), so every little bit helps. Nintendo expects Mario Kart 8 to turn things around for the system, and doesn't plan on squandering the momentum it'll gain them.

I'm not so confident.

It will sell well. It might even sell great. But I hardly expect it to "turn things around" for the system. Especially after Wii Fit U.

Nintendo also said that they would work to make sure that this isn't just a one/two week boost...which should imply release dates closer together for the second half of the year than what we have been seeing.

PS: there is no way of knowing how well Wii Fit U did unless Nintendo released numbers stating how many Fit meters they have sold. Judging sales strictly by using retail doesn't tell you very much...

3 simple things they need to succeed, bundle kart drop price and massive marketing. I know Kart is coming but I really doubt the other two.

Problem is it might be a little to late for small measures other then that to work, its competition will also be droping software. And will be pushing it hard, all out balls to the walls.
