Forums - Gaming - Why do Americans prefer Microsoft over Sony ??

Because to this day I have still not seen a PS4 commercial.

X1 is everywhere and it is awesome! Even saying that though, didn't the PS4 still beat out the X1 or has the 1 caught up?

Plus everyone has a 360. What would you expect? I do not know anyone with a PS3 as far as I can remember. Not trying to be extreme or rude. I just do not.

Halo was the start I think, then the community got big and everyone stayed with COD and other games.

Sad that you have to walk on egg shells over something that is true. Anything that doesnt look pro Sony has to be followed by an apology so you dont get banned. Says a lot really.

Not a Brit, when I made my account I didn't set it up right. I eat cornbread, grits and drink Bourbon.

I'm well travelled enough to tell you that some countries in Europe most people call video game "Play Station" oblivious of Nintendo and Xbox.

I'm the Brit, I'm just asking why you support xbox/microsoft, I'm assuming you are American.

Because I thought the OG xbox had the best titles in the market back then.

I had a PS2 but for the next gen I shook up the lethargy and chose something different and better IMO.

Im not American and i prefer Microsoft over Sony. Is just a matter of tastes

while the others focus on jrpgs and games catered to teenagers

also MS is an american company

I am pretty damn sure that the microsoft cateres to teenagers just as much as the other 2 companies. Halo, timed exclusive deals for CoD and Battlefield (i think, correct me if i'm wrong), Gears of War, GTA IV timed DLC.  All high octane games specifically targeted to dorito and mountain fulled teenagers...and those 12 year olds punks.

Well luckily for Sony they still buy more playstations than the japanese buy xboxes.
but then again you could argue the japanese games are a mile apart on xbox and PS while western games are really similar on both xbox and PS.

Patriotisim, what else?

Well I preferred the 360 over the PS3, because it offered a superior online service and all my friends were on that platform due to that. Even after I got the PS3, I still got cross platforms on the 360, because I hated the DuelShock 3.

Right now I have fully decided between the PS4 or XB1. If I were purchasing today I'd get the PS4... luckily Sony did a fantastic job with the DuelShock 4. Despite that that I still have some love for the Xbox One, mainly because of Xbox Live and controller. I don't like the Kinect though...

Microsoft's PR screw up really didn't effect me, or will it have any weight on my future purchase.

Mindblowing

Microsoft is a household name that is apart of American every day life. Everyone here just pretty much accepts MS is a superpower on their own and have large stakes in most electronic/software markets. Its an American based company so there is def a bit of patriotic loyalty.

There are brand image intricacies that perpetuate this as well. MS is a monster at advertising and Sony is quite pathetic at it. MS struck when Sony was at it's weakest (PS3 launch after 360, overpriced) and went for the juggler in Ads.

US market is pretty easily swayed tho. Popularity>Price>Quality as far as what ends up trending here. We will buy into anything that is trendy or popular at the moment.....but are still a bit price consciousness enough to find the cheaper brand of the 2.
