They don't? Remember PS2? Sony had a terrible launch and struggled long afterwards with PS3, they have since caught up and outsold 360 worldwide, but "too little, too late" perhaps in the US market as 360 was firmly rooted in US living rooms. PS4 seems to have addressed previous issues with PS3, which is why you see the crazy sales numbers. Even outselling X1 in the US in spite of aformentioned rooting of living rooms by MS. There is something to be said about MS exclusives I suppose appealing to the US market, Halo and Gears are obviously big in the US. For the most part however, I think people will buy the better console regardless of who makes it, which is why you saw Sony floundering early on in last gen, and why you see them widening the gap in sales now.
They really do not, but most people have touched every point, mostly.
The title is kind of annoying because it states something as fact without giving facts. Then asks you to state facts if you wish to state the original premise is false.

Then as a Brit who has never owned xbox or playstation, I must ask. Why do you support xbox/microsoft? Give me an honest answer.
Intel core i7 930 OC @ 4.0 ghz
XFX Double dissipation Radeon HD 7950 356 bit 3gb GDDR5 OC @ 1150 MHz core + 1575 x 4 memory
Triple channel DDR 3 12gb RAM 1600 MHz

Well, I had the choice a few years ago to go PlayStation or Xbox. I went back and forth a number of times. I hemmed and hawed. Many of the games I wanted to play were multi plat and a check out a few exclusives.
Some of the things I considered:
What could I do with it? (streaming media was the same at the time, Blu-ray was a plus for PS3)
Which had the better controller – this seemed to be in Microsoft’s favor in general consises.
Where is the future – I saw Microsoft being more creative, innovative and daring than Sony. This was probably the biggest point.
Friends – Most of my friends had PlayStations. So that went in PS3’s favor.
Company Philosophies? Well, that it’s an easy one. Nintendo has donated to build a hospital, Microsoft and Bill Gates give billions, and well, Sony didn’t win that one.
Minor Influence – was users online. One seem more likely to like things and talk about that, the other more likely to trash others. People trashing others are tedious. Probably 4-5 users here directly influenced that decision.
Still amazes me how little some people understand how BIG the United States is and how many PEOPLE there are in it and how many DIFFERENT feelings there are about many things. To think that there is any consensus about what types of games 'Americans' like or what console manufacturer 'Americans' are loyal to is a gross oversimplification in an effort to make the world easier to understand.
Americans can't be quantified or compartmentalized any more than any other nationality, race, religion, sexuality or gender.

Not a Brit, when I made my account I didn't set it up right. I eat cornbread, grits and drink Bourbon.
I'm well travelled enough to tell you that some countries in Europe most people call video game "Play Station" oblivious of Nintendo and Xbox.
The shooter game bias of the XBox 360 now XBox One has attracted a large fan base of gamers in America. PS3/PS4 and Wii have a much larger genre of games besides shooters. Microsoft has heavily promoted and advertised the XBox 360/XBox One that has helped its sales in America. Outside of America XBox 360 have struggled and lingers behind Sony/Nintendo in Europe and Japanese markets.

I'm the Brit, I'm just asking why you support xbox/microsoft, I'm assuming you are American.
