We all know that Nintendo is known to release high quality, polished games at least according to general opinion (Right?). So why are fans not interested in the company releasing just one (not many) new IP with realistic visuals and a mature story (whatever that is :P). Since the company is known to provide high quality games, why do fans dislike the idea of Nintendo creating a new IP with these qualities.  Cell shaded/Cartoonish Art style is good and I love them but just one game with realistic graphics made by Nintendo on the Wii U would be great in my opinion for the company. It doesn't have to be bloody and whatnot, just realistic, with a compeling story.

It could be TPS, FPS or anything? Zelda would work well with this too just like the tech demo but, something more realistically looking like Ass Creed, last of US, Bioshock, FF XV or Watchdogs made by Nintendo with a good story would be a great change/surprise for the Wii U. What do you guys think?

Do you think they are scared to try this or it just doesn't fit well with the company's philosophy? and if you prefer artistic games, would it hurt to enjoy a realistic Nintendo developed game once in a while?

I'll check that out now. I've heard nothing about it yet.

just checked. you call this effort? its 69 on metacritic and released in 2010. This is not Nintendo quality.

However, More games like this but with high quality would help.

Same devs as Xenoblade. That's what you get when you put a team that is good at doing A to do C. Have Polyphony Digital do a shooter and let's see what we get.

Anyway, if bad sales of mediocre ports are enough for third parties to stop support, a mediocre realistic and mature game selling 60K is enough to stop trying.

The audience for those games isn't there and fighting over it isn't worth the money.

Whoever thinks that realistic games don't do well on Nintendo systems fail to remember Goldeneye and perfect dark. There was a time when Nintendo survived off only Itself and Rare and the N64 sold 30+ million on the backs of nintendo and Rare. I don't know if wii u will even hit 30 million.

If Nintendo doesn't try to tap into the western market It would be hard to see wii u reach even 20 million

ANd what is wrong with having a few new developers working on games like that. Why must they use Monolith.

From your point, its like Nintendo just love to stick to their comfort zone and fail to put effort into trying new things.

Refer to Marioboy2004's post. Goldeneye was awesome and exclusive to N64

People forget that Resident Evil 4 And Soul Caliber 2 are 2 third party realistic titles that did well on a Nintendo system.

No. They must do new things, but not the things everybody else is making. Nobody who likes M-rated games (or a very small amount of them) is going to pick up a Nintendo console to play the 2-3 games Nintendo would make, specially when those games rain 24/7 on the PS and Xbox.

Not a very good idea when said games are expensive to make.

Goldeneye was made 17 years ago, when FPS were scarce on the dominant console (PS1), probably because the default PS1 controller didn't have analog sticks. Things have changed a lot since then.

I think buying the Bond license would be a pretty shrewd move on Nintendo's part, unfortunately I don't think they are bold enough to do that. It is available right now though.

Spend a few bucks to get Daniel Craig in some commercials with a good looking Bond girl and that's a game changer marketing wise.

A game like AC for instance is unique, Last of US, Gears, Watchdogs, Infamous, these are all unique. Just because they look realistic does not mean they look the same. Now where's Nintendos offering? Mario/Zelda is NOT new things but they keep making them hoping things will change.

I think Nintendo needs to ignore the blockbuster market TBH. Microsoft and Sony have the 'AAA' sewn up.

However, Nintendo will always win when it comes to families. And if they round off their portfolio with a variety of quality, niche titles then they become the 2nd console for a lot of people. And that will create a solid platform to attack from in the next-next gen.
